What's best thing for an itchy scalp?

6yo dd has an itchy scalp. I've had a really good look and there are no lice, but there is a bit of dandruff (not all over).
She's itched so much there's a few scabs and small fresh 'wounds'.

Can anyone recommend a shampoo or treatment please?

Because of her age I'd take her to a pharmacist first for yhem to have a look and advise you of the best course of action.

I think you need to take her to see the GP

In meantime try Philip Kingsley Itchy Flaky Scalp shampoo. It really relieves the itching and symptoms of my scalp psoriasis

I have had an itchy scalp since childhood.
By accident I discovered that it almost disappears when I use SLS-free shampoo.
Apparently SLS is so harsh it irritates sensitive scalps.

Maybe try Nizarol Shampoo although double check with the pharmacist at what age it is suitable for.

My dd had the same thing. My GP prescribed t gel shampoo and it has worked really well.

Thanks all. There's no redness just the couple of really small scabs and one new wound. Tiny though. But she is really scratching. I'll go to the pharmacist tomo and see what they recommend.

I had a look at t gel and I'm.sure it was for older children.

Maybe it is pineapple. My dd is 13. Think she has had it since she was 12.

I have this and t gel stops it. Not sure if suitable for children though. I've just this week tried a bar shampoo, all natural and so far so good but it usually takes 3 weeks to affect me, I'll report back.

The Body Shop ginger shampoo cleared up my DH's scalp years ago and he still uses it.

She may have eczema in her scalp. Try Eucerin shampoo (I find it gentler than the t-gel shampoos). Also speak to your GP - there are steroid scalp treatments for eczema.
