Decent sun screen for my face?

Cuppatea14 · 11/01/2018 19:13

Watched that bbc thing on skincare and now feeling very neglectful of my poor face. Can anyone recommend a good daily sun screen with decent UVA protection, that won’t make my face either greasy or chalky white? Have used La Roche posay facial one previously but it left a white film on my face.

Biore watery essence in the turquoise tube, Amazon or eBay. I'm v fair and I've worn it in Egypt, Cuba and Spain.light clear and very effective.

MinnieMinchkin · 11/01/2018 19:27

I used the Aldi Lacura sunscreen last year, the kids one IIRC, and found it less greasy and less chalky than the expensive LRP face stuff I'd used the year before (when I had more cash). I just use a "SPF 30" moisturiser during the winter months.

I second the biore one, it goes on really nicely.

babigailwabble · 11/01/2018 20:25

i use kiehls 50 atm and it's perfectly good!

arousingcheer · 11/01/2018 20:35

Love Coola sunscreen. No film and cruelty free.

Clinique city block

Thanks all, is this the Biore one? Can you get it anywhere other than amazon? Biore KAO JAPAN AQUA RICH Sarasara SPF50+ PA++++ NEW 2015 50g Sunscreen www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SM99KWU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_iyhwAbHANAHH4?tag=mumsnetforum-21

That's it; adding my vote to the pile. Have worn it in the Med, Singapore and Bali and have never had a breakout or sunburn. It sells out in the summer, so worth getting off-season. In Asia, there's a CC cream too, but it wasn't a good colour for me when tanned, but would probably be okay for a winter complexion. Quite decent coverage too.

BagelGoesWalking · 12/01/2018 10:34

This one is often recommended.

PragmaticWench · 12/01/2018 10:37

I buy the Biore one from Amazon, the texture is amazing compared to normal sunscreens, It's light and not at all greasy.

I'm very pale, burn in a few minutes and generally avoid all sunshine but I've not burned at all with this. Planning on buying lots now before the summer pushes up demand.

Heliocare is brilliant facial sunscreen..on amazon

Cuppatea14 · 12/01/2018 13:18

Thanks all, just ordered some of the biore one, looks like I might be waiting a while for it to make its way over to me from japan, just as well I ordered two of them!

I have sensitive skin (rosacea prone)- should the biore one still be ok? Think I might jump on this bandwagon as I really need to up my spf game!

OCSockOrphanage · 12/01/2018 17:06

Zippy, the Bioré sunscreen is alcohol based, which is why it's not greasy: would that be a no-no for rosacea?

EchoHead · 12/01/2018 21:49

I've been looking up the biore recommended here, and there seems to be a suggestion that the 2017 one is not as easy to apply?

SLRGPW · 12/01/2018 22:32

I really rate this Sun sense one. Doesn’t leave a film and feels nice when on. It’s much cheaper on amazon, or was last time I bought it.

OC I’m not actually sure! Maybe I’ll just have to give it a go!

EchoHead · 12/01/2018 22:52

I've been googling all evening and found one from Paula's choice that is alcohol free. They also have a sample bottle too. Has anyone tried it? m.lookfantastic.com/paula-s-choice-resist-youth-extending-daily-hydrating-fluid-spf-50/11174232.html

EchoHead · 12/01/2018 22:56

@SLRGPW thanks for that recommendation. Would this cream be ok to apply on its own only on dark olive skin or would it need tinted moisturiser or foundation on top?

OutToGetYou · 12/01/2018 23:05

I love the Biore one, used it for years now and converted several friends. Can also get it on ebay, I buy one as soon as I start a new one, so I don't run out. They do a body one which is good, but no good for face as it has zinc which is what leaves the white sheen.
The best thing is that it creates a perfect base for make up. I've never found, any other that doesn't just make makeup slide off my face. Heliocare ran down my face in rivers it was so greasy, and I'm not greasy skinned!

TacoFlavouredKisses · 12/01/2018 23:52

Plain old Simple SPF 30 is brilliant - no fragrance, not sticky or chalky and doesn't make my combination skin look like a grease pit.

zippyswife · 13/01/2018 06:44

Just ordered the biore one from the amazon link above. Really hope it doesn’t irritate my skin.

I use almond oil on my skin every morning and evening pre moisturiser. Really helps with my dry skin. Should I be doing this with the spf?

OutToGetYou · 13/01/2018 09:22

The almond oil won't affect the sunscreen, though might be best to leave a gap. I put moisturiser after the shower, then get dressed then put sunscreen on, then do hair then make up.

Maybe drop the oil am though and see if it makes any difference. I doubt it will.

Just popping back to say my Biore watery essence arrived from Japan yesterday. A bit off topic but the seller is so charming, he included a little hand written note with a tea-bag and some sweets!! Anyway, I used the cream this morning and love it so far, my make-up glided on over it and it’s a fantastic primer. Only concern is that it does smell of alcohol, which I was surprised about in a sunscreen?? Hope it doesn’t dry out my skin.
