Vanishing bootlaces

seriously, I see ads for laced boots all the time and someone has handily tucked the laces out of the way somewhere...but where? Especially on an ankle boot

look at the picture on the model and there's no sign of the laces. I generally avoid lace up boots but I need to get some boots and trainers and I'm noticing this a lot - all the pics don't show the knot of laces. Is it just a trick for photos or is everyone stuffing their laces in a skinny ankle space that I don't have?!

They've just laced them in reverse, so rather than having the ends coming out of the top hole to be tied, they are fed into the top hole so the ends hang down inside and then the laces tightened all the way up for neatness. You could probably try some elaborate knotting behind the tongue if you needed them done up.

so I do have to find somewhere to squish them...maybe my ankles are weird!! My feet are size 3 so they are quite small but I can't see how to comfortably fit in a knot.
