Clear Skin with PCOS - HELP!

manon123x · 10/01/2018 10:14

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6-8 months ago. Big give away that I had it was my skin.

Every since being diagnosed they've put me on the pill, it has cleared my skin up a lot but I still get a few huge spots a week and they scar :( is there anything I can do or will I just have to live with this?!

I would prefer not to go on anymore medication, so any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks! x

I have PCOS and had hideous cystic acne from it. Also get enormous hard cysts under my skin.

You’ve probably tried all this, so sorry if patronising, but what has worked for me is:

-Not picking. I find it really hard not to, but spots really do go quicker if I don’t.

-Drink lots of water. Limit sugar - PCOS hormonal imbalances are often linked to insulin and cortisol.

-Non harsh face wash - I use no.7 hot cloth cleanser. It sounds nuts but the more foamy, stripping, drying, abrasive the face wash the more sebum my chin, nose and cheeks produce. Twice a week I use Paula’s Choice 2%BHA to chemically exfoliate. Then serum to hydrate cells. Then use a non-oil based moisturiser- I use Ren ClearCalm.

Thank you, no not patronising at all!

I get the hard cysts too and they seem to stay for weeks! So frustrating! :(

I'll buy some of the Paulas Choice on my next pay day, sounds like this could help and has really good reviews online!

I do have the Ren ClearCalm moisturiser but as I'm on the pill I need quite a thick moistursier to stop my skin looking really dry, oh the joys of PCOS! haha x
