I'm in the market for a new foundation and after hearing Wayne Goss describe this one as the best foundation ever, I'm very tempted. I have dry and dehydrated skin and like medium coverage with good glow. Any suggestions about whether this product would work for me? Thanks

Hi i have oily skin and its the best for me.

I couldnt say what its like on dry skin. A colleague said her skin is dry and douvle wear looks cakey.

She uses Mac foundation

I have dry skin and this foundation is not too bad for Me, unfortunately the lightest shade is too dark for me and it oxidizes a LOT so bare that in mind when choosing a shade

I have tried almost every full coverage foundation going and find most are unsuitable for my dry skin

Have you tried the tarte rain forest of the sea? This is one of the best I've tried and isn't drying or cakey, also the bourjois healthy mix serum is actually an amazing foundation and only £10!

I was just about to recommend clarins (who I think are totally underrated for make up) extra comfort but I've just seen that it's hardly in stock anywhere and I'm having a little panic that it's been discontinued. If you can get hold of it it's great for dehydrated skins, very 'glowy ' but with good coverage. Come in a pot which is the main downside but really try it if you can

I have dry skin and love the Double Wear nude (fresh).

Crookshanks24 · 09/01/2018 18:00

This is a great foundation, and very long lasting. However be aware that it dries and sets fairly quickly, so if you use cream blushers/ liquid highlighters they can be slightly more difficult to blend.

I love this. I found regular double wear too heavy and was recommended the dw cushion nude (something along that lines - the one with a sponge applicator). I seriously loved that but it ran out really quickly, so I had a sample of this one and was converted. You need very little and I don't find it all heavy. I have pretty regular skin, apart from occasional small psoriasis patches, and it doesn't get clogged up in the dry skin there, unlike the original.

grandolddukeofyork · 10/01/2018 11:20

How is the double wear supposed to be different from double wear or double wear light ?

FlindersKeepers · 10/01/2018 11:22

I really like this, it sits a lot better on me than the original and I can get an excellent colour match.
If you fancy trying it, go to a sounter and get matched, they do a similar match system to the No7 one using a little device and you get a 10 day trial bottle for free.

FlindersKeepers · 10/01/2018 11:23

Counter, no idea what a sounter is!

I think some pp’s are referring to regular Double Wear not the newish Double Wear Nude Water Fresh version. I find the nude version has a lovely texture and looks nice initially but very very quickly goes extremely shiny and greasy on me and does not last at all. Looks awful after 2 hrs max and has terrible coverage.

I am evangelical about the new YSL All Hours foundation which has a similar lightweight gorgeous texture but lasts really well and doesn’t cake at all. It’s supposed to be a matte longwear one but it’s more of a fresh satiny finish and is very very light texture yet still good medium buildable coverage.

That sounds marvellous, will do that. Thanks Smile

I am a huge fan of ELDW and it is without doubt the best foundation I've used fur coverage and longevity.. however if I use it everyday it breaks me out in terrible spots as it's very matte and heavy. I tend to only use it for nights out or special occasions.

Ellapaella · 10/01/2018 13:12

Btw they always seem to match a shade too dark at the counter as the lighting in the ship is very yellow. I'd ask fir a sample of ten colour they match you with and the next shade lighter and take away to see which is best.

Ellapaella · 10/01/2018 13:13

Shop not ship!

Lottapianos · 10/01/2018 16:47

Ella, do you mean Double Wear or Double Wear Nude?

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 10/01/2018 18:18

Sorry just double wear

Jemimapuddleduk · 10/01/2018 19:29

I like it but still prefer double wear light as I find nude doesn’t last all day. I also can’t get to grips with the sponge applicator so tend to use fingers. I have combination skin and both work fine on me.

Doobigetta · 10/01/2018 20:18

Is Nude lighter than Light then? I've found that DW is really good but just that bit too heavy for every day, so I keep it for nights out. But Light doesn't really do that much for me, I find it looks a bit crappy by the afternoon even with primer. Stupidly, I've just re-bought it anyway. Maybe I should experiment with mixing the two.

Jemimapuddleduk · 11/01/2018 13:27

Yes nude doesn’t have as much coverage as light but is more dewy. I tend to use light in daytime and nude on a night out. They are both still my favourite all time foundations but I couldn’t live just with nude.
