Do you tip your hairdresser?

I only learnt recently that people tip their hairdressers. Is this something people do as commonly as tipping in a restaurant? It's just that getting my hair done costs a fortune, so it seems mad to be handing over more money!?

No. Never. It’s already $$$.

TabbyCat864 · 09/01/2018 12:53

Only at Christmas. It is expensive so most people won't have extra £ to tip.

Yogagirl123 · 09/01/2018 12:54

It’s common to tip a hairdresser in the UK, I always tip mine, she does a great job.

AlmostChristmas · 09/01/2018 12:55

No, not when I'm spending £110 a pop- colour and cut, doesn't even include a blow dry! Expensive round my way and I haven't got £££.

Frazzled2207 · 09/01/2018 12:56

Not always. But I do sometimes - she is cheaper than my old one so i'm still quids in.

halfwitpicker · 09/01/2018 13:10

Yeah.. Usually a fiver. It's only cheap in the first place though and I feel a bit sorry for her.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2018 13:18

No, never. He's the shop owner and it's a premium to get him as it is - £110 for a cut and colour. I'm happy to pay that to get him, but no way on this earth am I tipping on top of that. I did give the apprentice who does the hair washing £10 at Christmas though, but that's it.

No. I used to. But then he went independent and told me not to! Grin

ReinettePompadour · 09/01/2018 13:25

No. When I'm already paying close on £100 for a cut and blow dry I sort of feel thats plenty of money.
