Anyone ever made a home hair remedy and did it work?

I've got a tonne of pins on pintrest for homemade remedies to thicken hair to help it grow - before I spend a month going to bed with honey / egg etc on my hair has anyone tried them and did it work?

I'd just like my hair to be better / longer / thicker in general.

I’ve tried egg yolks, which made my hair dry and frizzy, though apparently they suit some hair types more than others.

Olive oil as a conditioning treatment was more successful – made my thick, dry hair look glossier and feel less brittle. It didn’t magically make my hair thicker but did seem to help stop it snapping off so much. When I had long hair I used it every couple of weeks, or whenever I could be bothered.

I applied it to dry hair, smoothing it through the lengths then massaging my scalp once most had wiped off my hands, leaving for 10 mins then washing out. A few drops of essential oil make it smell less foody. Leaving it on overnight didn’t give a better effect and made my pillow greasy.

Honey makes a nice facemask - it’s mildly antiseptic, but also moisturising, and so it can help with dry patches and spots. I’ve never put it in my hair though!
