Any gel nails experts

I had my nails done with glitter pieces and the girl instead of brushing the glitter on like she usually does poured it on to each nail and then did three layers on top. It was really really built up and the next day my thumb caught on something and the whole layer lifted straight away including the bottom coat! By day 3 my nails wet well and truly buffered.

It's always always lasted a week before getting chipped before - could it be her new technique to minimise her glitter wastage? I've decided to go bare now for the foreseeable as it is a waste of money if it isn't even lasted 24 hours!

Hmm. Yeah that's crap. I'd find someone who knows how to do it properly. Or tell her and get it done again for free?

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/01/2018 14:19

No that's not right. Your meant to use a brush and really push it in. Then just one layer of topcoat as usual.

I'd complain.

Pouring the glitter on uses a lot more product that brushing and it produces a different “look” was it poured onto uncured gel then all cured before 3top coats? I’d say the application process is a bit off.
For the base colour to come off though suggests poor prep/application all round. I’d mention it to the person who did your nails they might redo them for free if not I’d find someone better

I'm no expert but I've had them done a few times, definitely go back and complain. I've had gels done really badly and it sucked, and having them peel/rip off can damage your natural nail.

She did a base colour then cured then glittered then she did three top coats on top of the glitter. I do think it must be down to her application so don't think I will go back. I went back to have them removed two weeks later and told her how it had all lifted after a day and she didn't say anything! So I made some excuses about how it must have been all those presents I opened as I am far too polite!
But yes won't go back.
Thanks for confirming.

Applying the glitter like that after curing means it won’t stick properly to the colour so it will lift off very easily.
Gel manicure should last 10-14 days before needing changed, hopefully you can find a new nail tech who can do this for you
