Preloved Designer Bags and Authentication Services

I purchased a designer bag which I suspected was counterfeit mainly because the tag doesn't seem that deeply embossed (compared to another one of my own, same style, different leather. It also came with a different dustbag and there is writing in the inner pocket lining.

However, I had it authenticated and so far, three authentication services have deemed it authentic.

Should I go with my gut feeling? I can return the bag.

Yeah, that's really bothering me. I mean why would there be writing in the first place. I have never seen a designer bag with a writing in the lining.

According to one authentication service (the expert is supposedly not a native English speaker):

"Usually the number write inside the bag is used on the bag for the employees. The G and the C are right; I've see many type of embossing in Pandora bag."

So if three authenticators said the bag is authentic, would you be at ease?

Did they do authentications on the physical bag or just pictures? Unless someone has seen it in RL I really wouldn't consider that a proper authentication. To my eyes it doesn't look real by the tag, the Made in Italy typeface is set too close together and the stitches are a bit rougher than I'm used to seeing on a Givenchy. However, they can vary quite a bit at Givenchy depending on the year and the Pepe is a cheaper material and generally feels a bit off brand anyhow.

I'd return if you're feeling unsure and not bother with eBay in the future, it's the last place I'd be buying a pre-owned designer bag.

Just the pictures. I'm really perplexed how the bag can have inner lining writings.

A proper authenticator needs to see a bag in person, considering how good fakes can get, it's impossible to tell just from pictures alone.

I saw those numbers too but assumed it was just a bit of chalk writing from the auction or similar. Is it actually embedded in there? That would not leave a factory looking like that.

I am not sure what is it but I tried to rub it off and it won't budge.

Are you able to link the eBay listing? Or at least the seller?

The quality doesn't look right with the embossed logo. The other bits could've just been something whoever owned it before you did to the bag (regardless of how genuine it is!)
I've a Givenchy bag too and it all feels such high quality. If you're not convinced when comparing it with your known real deal I think I'd return it.

Have you done the paper test yet? Just take a piece of kitchen roll and softly dab and then gently rub the surface of the bag. The bag shouldn't leave any colour on the paper, if it does it suggests they touched up the bag themselves with poor quality leather polish. That would be your first hint that something isn't right.

I’d return it.

I'd go with my instinct and return the bag. I'd not be able to relax over it and be happy with the bag.
