I am SO tempted to get it.

I’ve started to read her blog and it’s made me realise that at 38 (and not having a full nights sleep for years) I need to up my game from just buying Elemis and never changing things up. I used to know every product in Space NK and now I walk in and barely know any of the brands.

So, anyone bought it? Are you happy? How often are they released? Anything else I should know/think about?

It looks good value for trying 6 new high end products and the May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon balm may actually work for me as I have quite dry and sometimes sensitive skin. I also love the idea of a box of goodies to try (Liberty advent calendar withdrawals!).

Yay or nay?

I bought one this time last year and it's just ran out. The one I bought was a complete routine. They are a good deal but it depends on whether these products are suitable for you.
She does a YouTube video outlining each product and what they do, who they're for etc.
I love CH. she saved my skin. Smile

Piccolino2 · 07/01/2018 12:16

Thanks @Clarabumps, I really need to sit down and binge watch her videos etc. I attempted to watch several this morning but no one in this house can survive without me it seems! Sigh.

I’ve watched the beauty box video but with half attention and googled a bit for reviews of the products. I am so tempted to take the plunge. Went into Space NK and they suggested booking in a consultation with them but I’m worried I’ll end up leaving with a bunch of products that I’m not sure about and having spent just as much.

Are these boxes released twice a year?

I don't know, it very much depends on what skincare consultant you get at space nk. I've left before with great things and I've left with stuff I really didn't need.
Before you part with your hard cash I'd find the time to watch CH videos or read the blog.
Read all the cheat sheets and get a working idea of what your skin needs.
Initially it'll be very much trial and error. You don't need to spend a fortune.
What are your main concerns regarding your skin?
Pick the main one and work on that then add bits and pieces in later. I've found it's best to add a product in at a time so you can get an idea of what works. If you buy 18 new things then how do you know what to buy again if your skin looks better.

I've read great things about May linstrom. Two boxes ago blue cocoon was included so it probably will come up again.
It's a lot of money- not to say it isn't worth it (it totally is a great saving) but she'll release another one possible two this year. It's just a matter of waiting for the one that suits you.
One was a box of just cleansers, the one I bought was a complete routine, you definitely save money on them.

I'd definitely go down the route of getting to know what you need. You can learn this from her blog. Then try some products. I've had people at counters try to sell me some crazy shit and I know my skincare (now). Sometimes it's a slow Tuesday and they need to make target.

This is not just space nk btw it's other counters too.
I've also been in space nk with money in my pocket for skincare and was completely ignored so it's just your luck sometimes. I'd trust CH more than space nk.

Anything else I can help with, ask away x

I was tempted but then I read the reviews on Blue Cocoon and thought better of it.

Piccolino2 · 08/01/2018 12:46

@Clarabumps thanks for all that advice. My skin isn’t actually too bad, no spots but tends to be dry and can be sensitive. I suppose my concerns are the tired eye look. Lines under my eyes that have only just started to appear in the last couple of years. It’s the lack of sleep, water, good nutrition and stress that have done it so I don’t expect a cream to change that. One big factor has been a stubborn patch of excess under my right eye.

I’d like more radiance, less dryness, started to notice nasolabial creases so a bit alarmed by that. I do think acids will help and bought the REN toner as a gentle introduction.

I like this Box is a complete system and I love wasting money on new things - it’s like Christmas again. I like using a fair bit of product and love high end products. I’m a bit sceptical of recommendations from counters as I often feel pressured and come away with things I’d have like to have researched and been excited for first. Seems like I’m talking myself into this. I did watch the video on YouTube but wish there was a bit more detail about who it would suit for each product.

How much of amazing skincare if just trial and error though? I quite like all my Elemis, love my Emma Hardie balm but is there anything I think wow that I use currently - no. Am a bit worried about ruining my skin in the process of trying things though and agree you have to try things individually or else you can’t tell what is working.

@JanetStWalker I looked at lots of reviews for Blue Cocoon but only saw mostly positive ones, especially from dry and sensitive skin users. I’d like to hear anything from anyone on here that’s used it.

I think I just want to join the Caroline Hirons fan club really!

The reviews on Cult Beauty itself are very mixed. Here also www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=180566/May-Lindstrom-The-Blue-Cocoon/Unlisted-Brand/Treatments-(Face)

Piccolino2 · 08/01/2018 14:11

Thanks for that link. Have read the reviews on Makeupally and CB website. Yes they are mixed - concerns me that some people didn’t think it was moisturising. It looks like one of those products that you won’t know if it’s good for you till you try it. Mind you, if I love it I don’t want to get hooked at that price!!

Clarabumps · 08/01/2018 14:27

Go for it then! There's nothing nicer than trying new products. If you're looking for a bit of wow then bite the bullet. It is an Amazing saving. (Capital A)
Do it.
Do it...

DO IT!

Blimey Clara, you are enthusiastic.

Piccolino2 · 08/01/2018 17:10

I think I am going to go for it! I just want to obsess a bit more, watch some YouTube vids to convince myself and worry it’ll sell out first 😉

Do come back and give us your verdict.

I'm an enabler.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/01/2018 19:14

Enabler? Is than an influencer’s second cousin twice removed?

chloechloe · 08/01/2018 21:20

I've had a few CH boxes, including the last one containing Blue Cocoon.

They are a huge saving on the RRP price. So if you think the products are likely to suit you then it's worth a try. I think this box came out a while ago if I recall correctly yet it is still on sale which is a bit unusual as they often sell out very fast. Maybe it's just because the Blue Cocoon has been in before or because people were spending less with it being Christmas. Who knows.

As for the Blue Cocoon itself, it's a lovely product but I wouldn't say it is a miracle worker. And the cost of it full price is staggering (and I love my high end skincare). So I would never ever buy it full price but I could be tempted to buy it like this. The pot is huge though as you only need a tiny bit of product. I don't know how anybody would manage to get through the whole jar before it goes off. It sounds like it could work for your skin though - it's very calming and moisturising.

Iceland22 · 08/01/2018 21:56

I think that Blue Cocoon is the emporers new clothes. I had it in the last box and the smell was awful. The ingredients are nothing special.
I don’t think this box is great so I’d hang fire for the next one. I have a feeling the earlier frenzy for these boxes have died down.

Piccolino2 · 12/01/2018 09:53

Sorry to have abandoned this thread, I was obsessing and after watching Trinny’s YouTube video on the box for the 3rd time I’ve finally bought it! I did wonder why it was still in stock when everything I can find online looks like it sells out at wait list stage but I’ll take it that I got lucky. When I looked at it it works out at £36.66 per it’s so much more easily justifiable and I think I can use everything.

It’s supposed to arrive today - I’m very excited. I’ve been double cleansing and toning with REN’s acid toner for just over a week and my skin is already looking and feeling a lot better.

Hopefully I’ll be drowning in Blue Cocoon this evening with my peel pads etc. Will update you all once I’ve tried everything. Smile

Clarabumps · 14/01/2018 17:25

@Piccolino2 did it come? First impressions?

neveradullmoment99 · 14/01/2018 19:47

Wow its SO expensive! Please do update! I suppose you can justify it at £36 a month but its a lot to part with all in one go.

Piccolino2 · 15/01/2018 16:07

Sorry for the delay, I wasn’t in when the parcel arrived and had to wait to collect it. Argh!

Ok, so, after using the full works yesterday and this morning..... I’m IN LOVE!

I had the Moor Mud cleanser from my Liberty Advent calendar and I love it, zingy to wake up to in the morning, not sure I’d pay full price but it feels nice and deeper cleansing for a morning.

I used the Oskia mask yesterday, usually use Elemis papaya enzyme peel which I thought was great but this is so much nicer. Smells gorgeous, feels so luxurious and thick and my skin really looked glowing after. I was worried it was going to be harsh but it wasn’t at all and I didn’t really even get much of a tingle.

The DCL peel pads I was a bit scared of but they were great. I used one and left it for 5 mins after, then used the Blue Cocoon balm. Wow is all I can say, I loved both. My skin was as smooth as glass and the balm is heavenly. My skin absolutely loved the balm, I put it under one eye that is very sensitive and eczema prone and it took the redness down. My husband even said in the evening that I looked like I’d had a facial!

The serum I used this morning, quite oily which I like but may just use this at night. Will give it a few more trys. The NOID eye concentrate I like, it’s light but doesn’t feel like water which my Elemis one does - time will tell although I did knock the bottle over and wasted some Confused

I actually love these products so much I’d consider getting a back up box. I know that’s crazy, and I probably won’t do it as I know I’ll want the next one (and basically anything Caroline recommends). I think for me it’s mainly been a great experience getting into newer technology or me (acids) and new things out there. I was spending quite a lot on my skin care but not getting much in the way of results and I didn’t really even realise it.

I wonder how long the box will be in stock for? I thought they were usually gone in seconds.
