Fur lined boots

I'm on the lookout for a pair of (fake) fur lined boots to keep me warm during the winter. I live in Scotland and its always freezing. I already have a pair of uggs and a pair of DMs. All the ones I've seen in shops lately only have fur around the top of the boot not all the way down to the feet. Anyone have any recommendations?

Are you averse to shearling?

CrabbyJo · 06/01/2018 14:50

Should have said, due to the fur inside, it's best to go a size up.

Notmybag · 06/01/2018 16:32

I don't love the look of them but my Merrell decora chant boots are fur lined and waterproof and are the warmest most practical boots Ive ever owned. They've survived all weathers

These are fur line throughout (real sheepskin, or do you only want fake fur?) And waterproof and sturdy yet comfy.

My uggs I'm sure will have sheepskin. Bought them a few years ago but not sure I would want to again. Feel a bit bad about animal welfare. I do like the superdry ones. Thanks for the tips.

I’ve got these Tamaris fur lined boots and they’re so cosy (I’m in Scotland too) I’ve had them for years and they seem to get better with age.

What's the difference in animal welfare between Uggs which are made of sheepskin which has natural wool on the reverse and any other letter with fake fur- both made from animals unless you are going to avoid leather altogether and buy plastic boots?

Fresta · 07/01/2018 00:36

leather, not letter

Cheeseandwineandgin · 07/01/2018 03:55

There probably isnt. Recently I've been eating an egg and dairy free diet so follow a lot of vegan pages on Facebook for ideas. I think it's just got me thinking about animal welfare overall. Maybe I should stop wearing leather boots. Maybe I should consider going vegan. It's just thoughts I've been having. Nothing concrete and am still eating meat so I suppose hypocritical.

Faux fur makes my feet sweat, sheepskin is far better for your foot health.

Have a look at Celtic and Co, they do a range of non-Ugg style boots and these are fully lined:

www.celticandco.com/womens/footwear/leather-boots/sheepskin-lined-turndown-boot

and here is their ethical policy, their sheepskin is a by product:

www.celticandco.com/about-us/philosophy

TBH, I would expect most sheepskin to be as much of a by product as leather itself, so I'd suggest a bit more research into your feelings about wearing leather at all if your beliefs are moving in that direction.

Cheeseandwineandgin · 07/01/2018 09:22

Those are gorgeous boots. I do need to do a bit of thinking and research. I don't know that I could fully embrace the vegan lifestyle and feel a bit guilty about that.

Foot health lol.

Ugg have changed their policy and now use bi products so if your still eating meat it's no extra waste/life.

If your planning to go vegan etc then it's a waste you will buy them and then feel sick you bought into it.

Plenty of nice faux leather and faux fur boots around. Smile

Fresta · 07/01/2018 09:59

Emu do waterproof leather and sheepskin boots- similar to UGGs in style but look more durable.

Branleuse · 07/01/2018 10:31

i think for a scottish winter, just wear your uggs instead of faffing around with plastic boots.

Cheeseandwineandgin · 07/01/2018 10:43

It's funny I was fully intending to get something similar to my uggs or DMs when I posted. Wasn't even thinking about no animal skins. Someone asking about sheepskin made me think about it. Now having a debate with myself.
