New hair style needed!

Mid 40s, fine hair, mum bob with fringe. I've had it like this for years because it is ok. When I'm feeling flush I get highlights. I need a change, ideally something a bit less boring. Any suggestions? It's very straight hair with a preference for flicking out at the bottom (can look a bit Miss Hooley in Balamory), fine and boring brown.

I can’t help but I dream of hair like yours, mine is thick woolly & makes me look like I’ve been plugged in to a power source!

I'm thinking of a new style too, but no idea what to go for! Either a short bob or a longer layered look, but honestly I just don't think I have the face for ANY hair style :(. When my haor grows out it becomes a frizzy, snarling mess. Here are my current Hermione locks:

Liz that would be a risky move - if I ever got straight hair I would never give it back Grin

I've got a bob at the moment with blonde balayage, no fringe. I like it, but have recently lost some weight and have decided that once I've lost the last stone I'm going to have it cut into a really short bob like Emma Willis from about 2015. Would you consider something short and funky?

gingerbreadmam · 06/01/2018 08:18

I live Emma Willis current hairstyle it's gorgeous. Colour and style.

stoplicking I did try short and funky. I used a pic of Yasmin Le Bon on the front of Red about 4 years ago as a starting point. Turns out my hair won't do funky no matter how much product and styling I throw at it. Short flat and boring yes, funky no. Luckily it grows very fast!

I would probably try a balayage - an ash brown/blonde combo looks very chic, polished and expensive. With minimal styling effort on your behalf

harriet thank you! I'll look into that. So you need long hair for balayage? I'm just above shoulder so there's not a lot to play with! Time to Google...
