Teeth Whitening advice needed

About 15 years ago I got my teeth whitened and it worked really well and made a big difference (I went to a dentist and they put gel on them and shone a light on my teeth for a bout an hour). I then got them done again about 4 years ago and the man that did it told me that there'd been some changes in the stuff they use to lighten them and it's not as strong so the results are not as good. I have looked again recently and most places just seem to offer these trays with a bit of gel in that you put over your teeth and you have to take home and sleep with them in which I wouldn't be able to do as it would be too uncomfortable. Does anyone know if there are places that still do the one hour treatments that actually make a difference? Thanks

My dentist told me they don’t recommend the UV method any more as it damages the teeth. The gel available here is also not as strong as it used to be (now 15% vs previous 20% ish). I got trays made and wore them at night over 2 weeks. It wasn’t the most comfortable but I easily slept and took out if I woke up in the night. It did make my teeth really sensitive but I switched to the sensitive toothpaste and it stopped within 2 days

Thanks Polomintini. Did it work though?

Pretty sure my dentist still offers the Zoom system of whitening no, which is the same as you described

I used trays recently, slept with them in no problem as they’re made from a mould of your own teeth. Yes it worked very well and they take the approach of weaker strength over longer period equals same result minus the damage. Then if less damage your teeth are less likely to stain again, certainly no time soon. I highly recommend it. Grin

Yes sorry, I was very pleased with the results and I have the trays to use in the future if I need a top up

My dentist does the zoom in chair. You can have trays to take home and it's zoom Day white, so you wear them for between 30 mins min a day (last thing at night)
No sleeping in them!
