Where to find LONG LENGTH casual trousers

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 15:49

My workplace is fairly casual - I can get away with jeans but feel better in chinos (summer) or thick cotton jeans-style (but not denim, if you see what I mean). I'm 5'10, so tall but not excessively so, and size 12. I CANNOT find anything that doesn't stop above the ankle. Ankle grazers are fine for summer, but not this time of year as I find they look really odd with ankle boots, which are my footwear of choice. Long Tall Sally is a frumpy disaster and in any case I'm not quite tall enough. Lost of stores used to do long length but I'm not having any success at the moment so seeking some Mumsnet wisdom. If anyone knows of a secret source, please help!

Try Hobbs....I’ve found them to be longer than most but not bonkers length.

Ohhgreat · 05/01/2018 15:54

I have the same issues!!
Stores I've found that stock long length (but they do have very dodgy styles on occasion!) are:
M&S
New look
Verbaudet
Matalan
Asos

Freshprincess · 05/01/2018 15:55

Marking place because I'm the same.

I love ankle grazer length in summer, but I need to wear proper socks and boots on my chilly office so they don't work.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 15:58

Thank you - had forgotten Hobbs. they don't seem to have anything suitable at the moment though, will keep checking :)
I've never ordered from Asos as I'm put off by the vast website but will have a look see. Ideally I like to try on before buying, even when returns are free #womanofthenineties

Topshop hit and miss but have had the occasional great pair.

This pair come up mega long

Dorothy Perkins generally a bit naff and polyester.

Boden about as stylish as LTS

M&S always have some but their site is hiding long leg filter from me Sad

TigerBreadAddict · 05/01/2018 16:00

Following!

Have had success with chinos from Tesco (long length) and next but usually only available from spring

MrsPestilence · 05/01/2018 16:01

ASOS have decent filters, 76 long pairs.

In reality, I often wear coloured jeans as they are easier to get in a long leg.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 16:04

Thanks all. Do not want any polyester :)
Playing with the filters on ASOS right now.
MrsPestilence any tips on where to get nice long coloured jeans?

I have the same problem.

Topshop have some real gems sometimes.

I would be wary of New Look Tall and probably ASOS Tall. A lot of trousers aren't particularly long when they arrive and New Look ones tend to shrink after the first wash.

noodlezoodle · 05/01/2018 16:06

Zara trousers often come up long on me (also 5 10). Most of their stock looks to be cropped at the moment but they do seem to have a couple of pairs that are full length and might work.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 16:06

I have not shopped in Topshop for years (43) - will have a look.

ebay is your friend.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 16:19

I think It's just the wrong season for me. It would be easier if I just switched to skirt, thick tights and boots but I ride a bike to work and can't be arsed with the faff of changing.

Always pop into TKMaxx if you are passing and just look for the pair that touches the ground. It does not matter if you don't need another pair of grey jeans yet, if you can afford them - buy them.
They also had some Falke wool tights last week £7 instead of £30+; buy a large and they will fit your bum and have amply long legs.

Thought tights are long and warm.

I understand your pain.

10thingsIhateAboutTheDailyMail · 05/01/2018 16:48

Dotty P ok for jeans, but trews too polyestery

Jigsaw trousers are long, but £££

Thetimehascome · 05/01/2018 17:40

Jcrew, French connection do the odd long length. Their black jeans could pass as smart casual.

timeforachangeithink · 05/01/2018 18:28

Sainsburys long length is great. Not sure if they have anything suitable right now though.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 19:02

Thanks. Don't mind spending money if the clothes are right. Will check out Jigsaw, I had jeans from there that I wore to death. And will also seek out Falke tights. :)

If you can find things that are a little bit too long, could you get them taken up?

LRL2017 · 05/01/2018 19:13

I have a friend who buys everything from Long Tall Sally.

ScoopyDoo · 05/01/2018 19:15

Yes, but that is never the problem. Too long would only really be LTS, and they don't appeal. Ideal inside leg is 34'', so standard stores 'long' is fine but I can't find any trousers I like in long.

The tights recommendations have inspired a rethink.

LRL I'm sure you're friend is lovely and amazing I just don't share her style Smile

Try Karen Millen, most of their standard trousers/jeans come up quite long, I take a 34" leg too and find they are the best bet
