UGG Boots

After years of scoffing at them I’ve suddenly developed a longing to own some cosy UGG boots and ordered these ones (Brita) in the sale. They’re suede upper and I’ve also ordered the protector spray. Am I mad? Even at sale price they are a major buy and I could still return them, so looking for your UGG tales, good and bad- are they actually too warm to wear more than a couple of times a year? Have you got stranded because you went out and it rained or got muddy and didn’t want to damage them?

Or are they lovely and comfy and make you feel all stylish and cosy? 😀

I've been wearing them for years, they are so cosy and comfortable. But I wouldn't say they are stylish! I wear them anyway, not normally to work or for an evening out, but at weekends I live in them.

JessieMcJessie · 04/01/2018 16:20

Yeah to be fair “stylish” is a subjective concept, but I just meant it might be nice to wear something a bit better quality than my usual Clarks.

I have a 5-year-old pair of chestnut classics and a pair from Celtic & Co in grey. They're great for errands, cosy pub lunches, changing into at work when it snows (casual office) but if I was going out for the day shopping then I would normally wear something else. I think they look best over skinny jeans with a nice thick warm jacket, ski-lodge style. The problem comes when you see people in Uggs and a thin hoodie. The proportions look off!

JessieMcJessie · 04/01/2018 16:44

Thanks PNG girl. Those are exactly the sort of activities I have in mind! Wouldn’t they get ruined in snow though?

Get a suede protector spray and they’ll last through all weathers!! Love mine, the cosiest things ever.

MozzchopsThirty · 04/01/2018 16:46

How much were they?
I love uggs I have a pair I've owned for about 6 years and they still look great

Str4ngedaysindeed · 04/01/2018 16:46

I used to love them and do still have a really old chestnut pair but have just discovered rocket dog! I have switched my allegiance I'm afraid!

JessieMcJessie · 04/01/2018 16:48

£160 quid 😳 But down from £200!

Sorry, I meant changing into as in out of wellies and into those round the office! Yes, snow will do bad things to them. Mainly from the gritting/salt marks.

Scoleah · 04/01/2018 17:05

I had this dilemma, I owned a pair of classic uggs for just under a year, but they stayed in the box on my wardrobe as I was scared of ruining them! so Just bought the Ugg Abree mini leather! I have raynaud syndrome, so feet and hands get numb in this cold, so will be a godsend. Grin

Get waterproof ones , they do a few styles which are lovely and don't let any water or cold in.. I had noiras for years and still wear them now if it's really cold and wet on the School run .. I also have some classic waterproof ones I've never worn 😬😬

JessieMcJessie · 04/01/2018 17:59

I looked at the waterproof ones but didn’t like any of the styles, it’s the soft suede that draws me to them! The impracticality is what has put me off until now.

Do you have an Ugg Outlet near you? I bought two pairs of suede ankle boot style Uggs in August for £40 and £30 each at Bicester...

DollyPartonsBeard · 04/01/2018 19:16

I got some gold Abree ones for Christmas (to wear as indoor shoes/ slippers in our hard and cold-floored house) and I love them. My feet are so toasty.

dudsville · 04/01/2018 19:33

I'm glad there's a thread. I too have recently stopped hating them. It began when I bought a pair of traditional suede ones to wear around the house. It was like winter never happened. So I wanted that feeling when I'm out. Like pps, i bought the black leather (water resistant) abree mini. They are tight and stiff at first but quickly became the only thing I wanted to wear. I now have the brown ones too. I've tried their more proper looking boots but they don't have the same comfort. I feel I have to be careful not to surround myself with more of these shoes. I honestly can't so telling everyone how warm my feet are. Normally the how is that I go from October to May with cold feet!

BexleyRae · 04/01/2018 19:39

I got some black shorter ones for Christmas, but I'm a bit scared of ruining them in the wet. I've got some generic shoe protector spray, but do I need a specific one?

dudsville · 04/01/2018 19:40

Suede or leather Bex? Leather has been fine for me. I've cleaned and sprayed then twice.

BexleyRae · 04/01/2018 19:47

I've got the suede ones.
It's a kiwi protector spray for all materials, do you think it will be good enough to keep my boots looking good?

dudsville · 04/01/2018 20:02

I've kept my suede pair as house shoes, however I have machine washed them. They took ages to dry but other than that they survived well, didn't shrink or go hard or lose colour.

BifsWif · 04/01/2018 20:07

They’re my favourite and I wear them pretty solidly from October to March.

Buy the ugg cleaning kit if you can, it includes a protector, and they look like new again. It was down to £12 recently on Very.

Spray them before you wear them and they’ll last forever. I’ve worn mine in rain and snow and they dry out perfectly.

BifsWif · 04/01/2018 20:07

I’ve only ever had suede.

Cahu58 · 04/01/2018 20:12

I also machine washed my suede uggs and they were absolutely fine, look like new.

BlueEyedWonder · 04/01/2018 23:03

I have Ugg Kristins in chestnut.
Use protector spray and you can wear them in all weathers.

They might not be “stylish” but they keep my feet warm! I wear them for running about town and doing the supermarket shop. I wear them to work when we get snow. And I’m taking them to Center Parcs this weekend.

I wear them with skinny jeans and cosy jumpers.

JessieMcJessie · 06/01/2018 17:20

So they arrived and I have protected them, just waiting for the spray to dry. Did have a minor wobble but figure they should last me a few years. And it’s nice and cold and dry round here this weekend so looking forward to wearing them tomorrow. Thanks all for your advice.
