Dubarry Boots

I've just ordered my first ever pair of Dubarry boots (heavily discounted in the sale) and after reading threads on here I'm now nervous they're going to be way to tight on my calves!

I'm a size 16 / size 8 shoe, I've ordered the Galway Cordura boots in a size 42 and I'm worried about whether they'll fit over my calves?! Does anyone know if they can be stretched?

Hi stylish - I am no expert ... but did get some Dubarry boots for Xmas and tried Galways on in store .
I think Galway comes up wider than some of the others - I certainly got them on much more easily than other styles (e.g Clare )
It seems that a high instep is as much of/ more of a problem than calf size.

Hope others can advise you better
Good luck !

@thedayismine thank you, we don't have any stockists nearby so can't try them on Sad

They've been dispatched so hoping they're ok!

Did you go for the standard or the extra fit which are wider?

SD1978 · 04/01/2018 21:05

Where is the sale?!?!?! Lusting after a pair of these boots for years! I need them I have decided. I have juts measured
My feet and will hope they fit, currently living in Aus and can’t get to a stockist.

I’m a 42 wide, I do sympathise. Grin

You have done very well to find them on sale as Galways are almost never reduced! I have fairly slim calves and the regular fit were huge on me. I got the extra slims and can still fit jeans and 2 pairs of thick socks under them so they definitely don't come up small.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 04/01/2018 21:39

That’s good to know Flis, gives me hope.

Our whole family wears Galaways; I for one, look like a stork standing in a bucket :-(
However, I practically live in them and wear them daily. Absolutely essential. Not sure whether Corduras are very slim fitted though.

The sale is on the Dubarry website;

Although there wasn't the option for regular or wide fit Confused

I have a couple of pairs of standard Galways and they're not huge on my calves (which are fairly normal-sized, not skinny but certainly not big).

The issue I always have with Dubarrys is that the arch of my foot and instep is high so getting them on and off the first few times is tricky.

The tweed Galways seem to 'give' a little more quickly than the leather, but obviously aren't so robust and need a bit more attention. And eBay sells Colonil rub that leaves them looking like new.

StylishMummy · 04/01/2018 22:23

I've got collonil carbon pro spray that I use on my handbags that I'm planning on spraying them with for additional waterproofing, are there any specific care products for the tweed?

Well my Dubarry’s came today and are absolutely fabulous. I’m a 42 wide so I ordered the extra fit and they fit like a glove. I’ve had leather wellies before but these are so soft and supple. No problem at all getting my massive high instepped feet in. Wore them all afternoon out with the dog and they were just gorgeous. They’re a bit muddy now though. I’ve bought that Colonil spray to give them an extra coat when I clean them.

HevvaSoBored · 11/01/2018 20:24

I haven't cleaned mine in 3 years BlushBlush

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 11/01/2018 20:30

I don’t want to risk spoiling them at that price. Grin

Laska5772 · 11/01/2018 20:38

Great price..I have had my Kildares for about 10 years and they re still great - a bit bashed up now but have never leaked and still warm as toast . ..A shame they didn't have the black ones in my size or i would have definitely been tempted to another pair
