Vitamin C for hair colour removal

DD is in trouble at school for her hair colour, she used a semi-permanent before Christmas and it still hasn't entirely washed out (despite the box saying it would wash out within 10-12 washes).

I'm not sure I'll be able to get to a big Boots / Superdrug to buy Colourb4 by tonight. However the Superdrug website suggests using Vitamin C tablets with H&S shampoo.

Has anyone had any success with this method? She's had the colour on for 2.5 weeks now, it's faded but not enough.

It will be incredibly difficult to get rid of the blue, my friend tried this several times after she dyed her hair blue, she ended up dying over the top of it and even then it showed through when the dye faded.

Colour b4 would be a waste of money because that's designed for permanent hair colour.

Thanks for the info about Colourb4. It's green not blue and it was supposed to wash out. Her hair wasn't pre-lightened either.

Yes, crush up some Vit C tablets into shampoo (H&S, or Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo are good for colour removing), then apply to the hair and leave on for 1 hour before rinsing out.

Follow up with an intensive conditioner - also leave that on the hair for at least 10 minutes.

Should help to fade the colour even if it doesn't remove it completely. Good luck!

Can you tie her hair up? That would be the easiest, least damaging. I've heard the Vit C method a few times but it appears to be hit and miss wrt working.

Forget colour b4, it’s not made for this kind of colour, and even the one that says “fashion colour” is shit (the shampoo is the most effective part)

When colour says it washes out, don’t count on it 😂

Update- it's faded a bit but not loads. She'll have to artfully arrange her ponytail tomorrow.
