I've got a work trip coming up, flying there and going to different sites whilst there, with some walking & sightseeing thrown in. I'm looking for a backpack that will take a laptop and other essentials; anti-theft design & waterproof would be great. Looked at various online but it's hard to tell, isn't it? I'd love to hear about any you'd recommend.

I’m looking for the same thing. I like the longchamp backpacks but don’t think they are big enough for a laptop...

I'm saving up for a Knomo bag. Gorgeous.

Fjallraven does a great laptop backpack, my friend has one and I am well jell!

This one for a 13" laptop.

Thank you. The Knomo bags often get mentioned on MN and look lovely, but out of my price range. I will have to avoid Kanken as my teenagers have them! I have been tempted by the rather smart bags by Rains, but put off by the thin straps - odd thing to compromise on with a fairly pricy bag.

You’ve got me googling now! What is your budget op?

This brand does some fun stuff and is designed for laptops.

I managed to get a used Knomo laptop bag with wheels on eBay - perfect condition for £50. And an everyday knomo laptop bag for £40 at TKMaxx worth £120. Worth nosing around :)

Ooh you lucky thing Frankly! Must look at TKMAXX again.
Crumpler & Matt&Natt are both brands I’ve bought in the past - good to be reminded about them. I’m being fussy, but I’d like some internal pockets as well as the laptop bit. I’d like to spend under £100 if possible. Anyone had a riutbag? I’ve read mixed reviews.

The Knomo fabric ones come in under budget -

I have an older one, which is quilted fabric, looks really smart and fits loads in - it has two big internal sections, one I use for laptop, charger, mouse etc and the other I put in clothes/books etc

No such thing as an anti theft design, there are things called knives. And the gappie PAC safe mesh is also a waste of money.

If you are walking forget the silly fashion packs, with their added weight - get something with a hip belt and no stupid trims. Costs less too.

So, I’m going with a slim Wenger backpack. Disappointed to have gone for a black bag, but it looks well-designed. We’ll see!
