Mac Ruby Woo - what am I doing wrong?

It's either the worst lipstick in the world (gift from my sis) or I'm weird.

Wet lips, bone dry lips. Apply- instantly gone.

3 minutes later left with just an outline.

Reapply, same.

Lip pencil, lip gloss over - same.

It's honestly the worst beauty product I've ever owned.

What am I doing wrong???

I’m not sure but I don’t like it either...! It dries my lips out so much I can’t use it. I have a copycat one from Loreal and I use that instead if I want a red.

GreyFluffball · 31/12/2017 09:51

I havent used Ruby Woo but I have other Mac lipsticks and haven't experienced this, it sounds very weird! Is it definitely a genuine Mac product?

TheFifthKey · 31/12/2017 09:53

I have it and it stays on forever! It’s hard to apply because it’s so matt but then doesn’t budge at all.

Mamia15 · 31/12/2017 10:05

Try priming your lips

Opheliasgoldenwine · 31/12/2017 10:30

Are you sure it's real?Confused

Softkitty2 · 31/12/2017 10:33

Did you actually get it from a mac counter?

I have one and it lasts all day without re touching. It is very drying though so I prep my lips before hand.

endehors · 31/12/2017 10:33

I use it, but I blot it away to nothing, for a subtle stain, then apply lip balm. It seems to have decent staying power.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 31/12/2017 11:48

I haven't had your problem however I did find it incredibly drying even when used with primer.
It's also a complete fallacy that it suits everyone. It really doesnt.

WhooooAmI24601 · 31/12/2017 11:49

It doesn't suit me at all. I love it and persevere occasionally but some lipsticks just don't suit some people. Rihannah's Fenty Stunna lipstick is a more perfect version of Ruby Woo for pale blondes, though, and lasts forever.

PineappleTits · 31/12/2017 11:50

I hate it! I have exactly the same problem, goes all bobbly and dry straight away

BusterGonad · 31/12/2017 13:25

I think you've got a knock off!

boxoftoads · 31/12/2017 13:30

Yes was from a Mac counter - got the bag and receipt in case it wasn't suitable.

Also, I've taken it off, primer, apply, Vaseline over the top.

It's currently flaking off and onto my scarf as I go round the supermarket with DH.Angry

Apply it with a lip brush and see does that help. Matts are really drying though. I love them but my lips don't. I've got a great primer from Avon of all places.

BusterGonad · 31/12/2017 14:36

I apply it in lips that may have a bit of base (foundation) over the line, then I apply a matching liner then use a brush to apply the Ruby Woo. For me it's the most amazing long lasting lipstick. I never use Balm or vasaline as it will only ruin the formulation and it will just slide off.

BusterGonad · 31/12/2017 14:37

On lips not in lips! Please note it is very dry so you have to have lips that are in good condition to start with!

ElspethFlashman · 31/12/2017 14:40

Last time I was at a Mac Counter the SA actually advised me against buying it. "That one is terribly drying"

She steered me towards Red Rock instead. V v similar colour and opacity but normal moisture level! I loooooove it.

amymel2016 · 31/12/2017 14:56

That seems a little odd as once I've got it on I can't get it off! May be they've changed the formula? Definitely worth popping to counter to see what they say

BusterGonad · 31/12/2017 14:58

I'm the same Amy I wore mine to a wedding and all the women on my table asked what it was as it lasted throughout all the food and drinks until home time!

boxoftoads · 31/12/2017 16:20

Thanks everyone. Will pop in and ask when I'm in town.

I use it with the Mac primer and it’s fine - but only if my lips are in good condition to start with, if they’re dry then it’s as you described!
