Best eye creams to beat dark circles?

pineapplesocks · 29/12/2017 22:26

I have the worst dark circles/bags under my eyes. Currently using an olay one that was recommended, for the price £16 on offer I thought I'd notice a tiny improvement but nothing so far! Have been applying morning and night for nearly a week now.
Any suggestions on products that actually DO work? Thanks Smile

I have tried so many eyecreams but none of them worked. But I do like Clarins eye contour gel and Clinique pepstart. Dark circles are still there and I have to use concealer otherwise I look I'll and sleep-deprived.

i have tried so many and NONE work!!! i think for me its a combo of not going to bed early enough (for example now, i should be going to bed but no, i have got to do the dishwasher, wipe work tops and empty and put clothes onto airer/tumble) and genes!

Despite the eye bags, DH still tells me they are my best feature and very striking. Good, isn't he?!!!

SexNamesRFab · 29/12/2017 22:43

I agree none work. I'm currently trying out the caffeine stuff from the ordinary and it has made no difference at all. At least it's cheap.

I have a sneaking suspicion that taking multi vitamins with zinc might help a teeny tiny difference.

Get your colours done and wear bright lipstick instead Grin

I never put mascara on lower eye lashes.
It made my dark circles even darker when I tried once

Ah best start shopping around for the best concealers instead then! Was hoping one day to have lovely natural skin and ditch the make up but seems just a pipe dream Grin

my dream concealer is www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13844/10181/products/makeup/face/concealer/pro-longwear-concealer#/shade/NC15
light but still covers and didnt settle in my eyebag lines - had a tester of it when i went christmas shopping at 10am and when i got home at 7pm, it was still lovely just spent too much to buy it this month but definitely will be buying it soon

Be very careful with that MAC concealer. The bottle is made from glass and I've shattered 2 nearly full bottles 😭

Miz10 · 30/12/2017 00:12

I use the studio finish concealer from mac it's fab for covering up dark circles

blueberrygoose · 30/12/2017 08:54

Hi, I know a couple of people that use the kiehls eye cream and they seem impressed.Smile

Solasum · 30/12/2017 08:54

Vitamin K is supposed to help...

PollyPerky · 30/12/2017 09:07

Dark circles are caused by thin skin- it's your veins showing through. Dermo told DD ( part of a consultation for acne...)

There is nothing you can do to get rid of them.

Northernlass99 · 30/12/2017 09:08

Yeah frustratingly no cream will work on dark circles despite their claims. Puffy bags you may be able to do something about but dark circles are caused from within. Try vitamins. Do you get enough sleep?

LazyDailyMailJournos · 30/12/2017 16:26

What Polly and Northern said - it's genetics and there is nothing you can do to get rid of them. I've had dark circles under my eyes since I was a child.

Use an eye cream to help keep the skin moisturised and find a good concealer.

Timefortea99 · 30/12/2017 16:54

Middle aged woman here, always had dark circle problem. I have tried all types of creams from the cheap to the eye wateringly expensive. The results - the dark circles are still there and obviously get worse the less sleep I get. As someone upthread said, it is a thin skin issue and there ain't no cream that is going to fix that. Concealer is the best solution, if you can find the right technique/product. I am still working on that one....

Has anybody tried that technique where you draw a long triangle of concealer that goes down the level of your nostrils, which you then blend. I saw it on YouTube, but I have not tried it myself. I think you might be going through concealer at a fast rate if you did it all the time.

specialsubject · 30/12/2017 17:02

Beauty products lie. As above, dark circles are blood vessels showing through skin . no potion will do anything, however small the pot and however much French is on the label.

Remember that ' helps reduce appearance' actually means 'does nothing'.

Fosterdog123 · 30/12/2017 18:39

No creams work. Save your money and put it towards tear trough fillers.

pineapplesocks · 30/12/2017 20:17

The mac concealer looks good! Would have to find a shop with makeup counter though as wouldn't no what shade I'd need. Where I live we don't have many shops, anyone know where does it apart from mac shop?
