How do you put your hair up?

I've been wearing my hair up recently but it keeps falling down. I make a kind of French pleat by twisting my hair then secure it with one of those curved clips, it is quite big as I have thick hair - a flat clip would come open. Those jaw clips hardly stay in my hair at all. My hair is about shoulder length with layers. I hate the feeling when my up-do starts to feel loose and wobbly - I would actually like it if banana clips came back into fashion as they always stayed in place!

Can you recommend any clips etc that stay in place please?

Have you seen octopus clips ? I just twist it up on top of my head with a hairband to be honest .

Either french plaits pinned up around each other. Or a pony tail on the top of my head.

Spin pins - use to make a high or low bun, or you can do a French twist style thing with them. The Scunci branded ones were much better than the knock off cheap ones I got from Amazon.

Gibson tuck.

I have mid-length thick curly hair, and I can usually do this with one pony band, invisibly. Usually stays in all day, but is easy to re-do if necessary.
