Did they used to be a luxury brand?
I got given a set for Christmas but I'm not feeling the luxury.

I can't decide if I'd imagined that they used to be very popular or not but I'm sure that when I was younger my elder sisters used to rave over it. Is it just me?

Disclaimer before anyone jumps on. I'm not ungrateful for the gift. I like bath sets so it will get used, I'd just thought they were a bit more fancy than what they are.

About twenty years ago you could mostly only buy it in Space NK so it was definitely luxury then.

I was thinking the same recently, that it's not branded in the same way it used to be.

I find the bubble baths are nice but not fantastic, so I feel they are over priced. I happen to feel the same about Molton Brown, but I know one friend who raves about it.

Do love their purity face cleanser, it suits my skin.

How much are they now? I got a set with a few of these in but to be honest they are no better than the bubble bath I get from wilkos.

The perfume is nice but doesn't last long. That might just be my skin though.

ÂŁ19.00 for that bottle Wheely. Shock
or
ÂŁ75 for gift sets on QVC

WhooooAmI24601 · 27/12/2017 20:04

Those individual bottles are around ÂŁ14 each on John Lewis. MIL loves Philosophy so I buy lots for her usually from QVC but it doesn't seem to suit my skin.

Writersblock2 · 27/12/2017 21:57

I want to love Philosophy but I find when using it, the whole range is very meh. Which is unfortunate as they smell divine and I like be the concept.

Wheelywheel · 27/12/2017 22:24

God I didn't realise they were that much. I'd have priced them at ÂŁ5 per bottle. Definitely wouldn't pay that much. They do smell nice though but it doesn't last long.
Has anyone tried them as a shampoo? The bottle says you can use them as either shower gel or shampoo.

I used to use a lot of their skincare products, then they became hard to find locally and I moved on. I got bath stuff last Christmas and I was delighted, but it actually gave me horrible thrush, probably because it was so heavily perfumed. I ended up decanting it and we used it as handwash, which was fine. The Amazing Grace perfume is lovely but doesn’t last very well.
