Where can I find a coat?

I need help and advice! I've been looking for a lovely winter coat for more than a year now and can't find anything similar to what I want! I'd love a lovely silhouette type figure with a slight cinch at the waist and slight outward flare. Something sleek and classy but feminine.

All the coats I see at the moment are straight, hang down the sides, boxy things that look awful on me. I thought this style would eventually pass but every winter it's still here.

Am I just imagining it or am I not looking in the right places??

Watching with interest - you’ve described exactly the coat I want but have been unable to find for a couple of years. I’m wearing a double breasted pea coat I picked up in a sale, but it’s not really quite it.

I got a black wool winter coat at Karen Millen, trench coat style with the slight flare and tie at the waist.

Coats have been desperate this year, honestly! I'm longing for something long, warm and cut for an hour glass. No joy.

I'll watch with interest!

Jigsaw ?

peachypetite · 27/12/2017 10:20

House of Fraser

I have a green double breasted wool lined nipped in at waist amazing coat. However it was £7:50 in a charity shop so no help. It's long and cosy and very feminine. I snapped it up. Vintage may be the way to go.

Jigsaw have some nice ones sometimes
MaxMara Studio (not unreasonable on cost per wear basis)- sometimes
If can afford, MaxMara

leghoul · 27/12/2017 10:52

Oh & Zara have been good for classic coats in the past

mycousinsarah · 27/12/2017 15:07

Try brora

LockedOutOfMN · 27/12/2017 16:18

I got two from Zara at the start of this month.

I'm in love with this one - great shape, as are several of the Joe Brown ones.

Sounds like you're looking for a princess coat. Try 1950s vintage on Etsy and elsewhere. Perfect for hourglasses. Am currently in Milan swishing around in mine (v similar to the red one in this picture) and have had several nice comments on it.

Hobbes for the shape you want.

WhooooAmI24601 · 27/12/2017 20:05

I bought one from Ted Baker that's sort of pale grey and cinches in at the waist; it's by far the most flattering coat I've ever owned.

Lucked · 27/12/2017 20:07

Do you mean a winter wool coat or a waterproof hooded coat?

What length do you want and can you wear a belt? Also colour and size?

Daria32 · 27/12/2017 20:27

Agree with pp- Definitely Hobbs! Just got a lovely olive green and had a black military style last year. They are ££, but really worth it!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 27/12/2017 20:28

I was going to suggest Joe Browns. I’ve now gone and bought another coat that I don’t need. Xmas Grin

MynewnameisKy · 27/12/2017 21:08

Me too MrsAdorable from Hobbs. Oh well there goes my christmas money.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 27/12/2017 21:56

In my defence it was half price.

Turnturnturn2 · 28/12/2017 05:26

I have to say I quite like the Joe brown. I thought I'd looked in Hobbs earlier this year and not seen anything but I'll try again!

I'm not looking for a trench coat or to be honest anything with a belt. Just a neat slim unfussy type coat. Love the idea of an olive green coat in this style.

Just had a look at Hobbs online but can't see any lovely olive green coats on it ☹️

Is this too fussy ?

There are some nice coats on EMP, most of them quite Gothic but a few fit an flare amongst the others

Oldraver · 28/12/2017 12:56

I love this

gingerclementine · 28/12/2017 12:57

Is this any good? Classic wool wrap/trench. I saw it in John Lewis and it looked lovely irl.
