How would you wear this suit? (Pics)

My fiancé has very kindly bought me a gorgeous 1950s vintage sage green skirt suit. Peplum, nipped waist, stunning.

I was wondering, how would you wear this? Think is probably for work. For reference, I am 32, work on the periphery of financial services, middle-senior management.

My style is pretty classic, but very 50s: nipped in tailoring, pencil skirts, high neck blouses. Usually navy, camel, cream. Green will be quite a change!

The suit is the first picture. The others are for reference so you can see what it looks like on.

I love this style of clothing so feminine and fabulous. What good taste your fiance has. You will look so chic at work in this suit.

White pussy bow shirt in silk

Wow, lovely. I'd wear a silk shell top underneath so nothing detracts from the suit.

Camisole top, so not visible; natural tights and heeled brogues. Much as it would have originally been worn.

That's lovely! I would sometimes wear it all together, with darkish brown thin tights and brown high-heeled lace-up shoes (perhaps a plain, thin, round-necked jumper underneath), but I would also wear the jacket separately with a longish black pencil skirt and classic black courts, and the skirt with a black or burnt orange batwing jumper or a Fair Isle jumper with earthy colours in, thicker tights and low-heeled lace-ups.

Thank you all - these are some great tips.

Little nervous about head to toe green at work, but it may help make me stand out if I need to give a talk/presentation, instead of my usual dark colours (though saying that I have plenty of woollen dresses in mustard, rust, teal, red etc. which I wear to work. Think it is the idea of a coloured suit that is unusual for me!)

Stunning! If that's already you're style then i think it'll really work.

Gorgeous!!!!
Absolutely rock that!

Lovely. Black silk t-shirt, sheerish black tights or micronets, black heels. But yes to wearing separately too.

You could also do a silk scarf at the neck, cravat-style, which might add a flash of a contrasting colour. Personally I would do a shocking pink silk square but other colours (azure, leaf green, French navy, apricot come to mind) would all work well.

I particularly like the cravat idea! Thank you :)
