Alternatives to Polarn o Pyret coats for kids

Pretty much as the title says - we’ve had numerous coats from P.o.P over the years and I love them - they last well and are great for the rainy and cold weather we get frequently.

Normally I buy in the sales but this year the reductions aren’t great and there’s a poor selection - what other brands can you recommend? (We’ve had Didriksons before and like them) I’m looking for a shell coat rather than a thick winter coat and need it for an 8 year old.

Have a look at the regatta outlet website, I know they aren’t the most glamorous brand but they actually have some great stuff on there, and you know it will be warm and waterproof. I’ve just bought a winter parka, and previously a yellow raincoat

I get mountain warehouse for my DC. Not as nice or expensive as PoP but they are warm and good in the rain.

Try spotty otter, have their suits for both our children and they are fantastic. Similar price to pop but might have a better sale.

H&M outdoor wear is fantastic and very well priced.
Spotty Otter currently have a sale on

Hatley, Frugi or one of the ski brands like O'Neill, trespass, north face etc?

We love muddy puddles here. They do good fleece lined rain coats that we later up with a regular fleece if really cold. I like that they are longer at the back so when they sit down they don't get wet bums.

I got one from Dare2be last year for a ski holiday to Norway. It has been really brilliant. Light shell, really wind and waterproof, washes and dries easily.

Reima, that's what Finnish kids wear. Sizing similar to PoP.

We usually buy the POP coats but tried out a much cheaper version last year for my 3/4 year old. The Karrimor was a really good alternative for the price (£30). It isn't as good quality wise but largely did the job. Waterproof, warm, longer at the back. Just as versatile and useable as the POP 3-in1 coat.

My number one issue was that the cheaper one seems more padded with the fleece inner and my 3/4 year old found it tricky to get her arms in when the fleece was attached.

This is the Karrimor alternative;
