I don’t mean by burying it at dead of night but I have a ton of shampoo, conditioner, cleansers and shite to get rid of and recycle bottles - down the sink ok?

If unopened can't you donate to food bank or charity shop

opalmum · 21/12/2017 21:10

Use to clean the loo? As Hand wash? Conditioner is great to shave legs with. Seems a waste to chuck it all down the sink, unless it really is so old it'd be dangerous to use it.

Mostly opened and then half used. Shame about food banks as I’d gladly send stuff their way. I’ve nearly used one bottle of conditioner on legs for shaving but it does seem a waste to wash it away I agree

If they're reasonably good brands, half-used beauty products will sell at a car boot sale, believe it or not. Probably not for enough to warrant a stall by themselves, but if you know anyone else who's having one, you could shove them in a box and send them along.

Polkadot1974 · 21/12/2017 22:59

Oh good idea. Will see what good stuff there is which I could get reused

Whenever I don’t get along with a product, I give mine to my friends or take them into work to give to colleagues. They’re usually really well received (I either ask around of just leave them in the ladies’ loos with a note - and they always go within a day or two). Hate waste!

Ollivander84 · 22/12/2017 00:58

Shampoo I use for cleaning the bath, sink, chuck down the loo to clean and scrub it, hand wash for bras etc etc. Makes a great makeup brush cleanser too

I’ve put all the hotel/ travel sizes in a bag for the food bank and all the half used stuff is planned to be used up in next week or so.
Feel better for sorting and now I know there isn’t a tonne to throw away i feel less guilty

I use shampoo as delicate wash in the machine.

Mulberrysilk · 23/12/2017 10:20

Shampoo is good for hand washing tights.

Hair conditioner is very good as delicate fabric / wool conditioner, hand wash or in the machine.
