Tinted lip balm

OldJoseph · 21/12/2017 13:30

I've tried a lot of tinted lip balms from the high street and have yet to find one that I love-there's usually too much reapplication and not enough colour (eg lanolips).
My best find was a Burt's Bees shimmer stick in fig, I also like the tinted Carmex lip balm

I'd love to know if you've had any success with more expensive brands?

I really like Baby Lips - I find the texture nice and I like the colours too. I think with any lip balm, you have to reapply fairly often. I've tried all kinds of balms and these were the only ones I ever finished.

Pixi shea butter lip balm.

I had it in my LookFantastic advent calendar and I've worn it every day since. It's similar to the Burt's Bee's one, but richer colour and longer lasting; a bit more like a moisturising lipstick.

Floisme · 21/12/2017 14:26

You probably already know it cos it's Burts Bees but I like their plain (non shimmery) one in Red Dahlia. The staying power isn't great but it's the only lip colour I've tried that doesn't make me feel like I'm in panto.

OldJoseph · 21/12/2017 14:37

Thanks for the replies, yes the Burt's Bees ones are good. I should make the effort to reapply lip balm, perhaps a NY resolution for me. The Pixi ones look promising too, is Baby Lips from Maybelline? If so I might have tried and discarded it for whatever reason.
My lips are dry, ideally the lip balm would have the moisturising/ staying on my lips properties of lansinoh with some colour (I tried mixing my own without success).
Doesn't sound like spending more than a £10 is going to make much of a difference.

I like the Revlon one. I'm wearing Romantic today. It's a nice deep red but not too bold.

I also wear the No7 in Coral Blossom.

MissisBoote · 21/12/2017 15:40

Burt's bee's pomegranate is also tinted and is a lovely 'your lips but better' colour.

OldJoseph · 21/12/2017 18:55

Thanks again for your suggestions, all relatively cheap as well.

I always use this in plum, and love it. Just the right balance of sheerness and coverage, and leaves your lips in great condition:

My best success is using a lip pencil and then slathering on the plain mango Burt’s Bees. Most stickability and moisture.

TheLongRider · 21/12/2017 19:11

You could always try a lip stain underneath and the Lansinoh on top. It'll move a bit but most of the colour will remain.

OldJoseph · 21/12/2017 19:40

Good tips peachy and rider. I'll put the Elizabeth Arden one on my list to try.

I like ted baker ones but i also like a normal matte lipstick with clear carmex on top as it lasts ages

mollyblack · 21/12/2017 20:36

If you like the burts bees ones (they are great) then you will love the elizabeth arden as said above- better colour but a lovely sheer moist texture.

Clinique nearly lipstick in black honey is also good. And weleda tinted lip balm is great too.

eurochick · 21/12/2017 22:07

I use the Elizabeth Arden ones too. All the colours are good.

HeyMuggins · 21/12/2017 22:11

Lancôme did a lovely one called 'in love' which they discontinued Angry I now use Christian Dior's Addict Lip Glow. Lovely stuff.

Bluesheep8 · 22/12/2017 06:44

Hi, Carney do a plum shade in a gold plastic tube, that's very good.

OldJoseph · 22/12/2017 07:21

Blue do you mean Carmex? I've not seen one in a plum colour, where do you buy it?
Thanks again for all your suggestions.

Bluesheep8 · 22/12/2017 08:43

Oops sorry yes Carmex, it's from boots-highly recommend it.

OldJoseph · 22/12/2017 09:16

Currently using peachy's tip-lip liner and Lansinoh, feels lovely. Of course now I want all the other things to try.

Expensive, but Fresh Sugar lip balm has a good tint and feels good on. I have the berry shade and it's still going after 18 months.

dinosaursandtea · 23/12/2017 10:48

Kiehls tinted lipbalm is incredible - I use a rosy pink one for day to day.
