So which do you think the best advent calendar is?

Wondering which one to go for next year.
I had m&s this year and whilst it's been nice, it hasn't been as substantial as I'd like. Everything is mostly sample size which I find a bit disappointing, although it wasn't terrible value for money.

I had liberty last year and that was really good, but they tend to repeat the same things each year.

I've followed the HOF thread and am tempted for a laugh next year Grin

What has your experience been?

I bought the Atelier Cologne Discovery set this year to use as an advent calendar and it has definitely delivered lots of interesting perfume (plus a money off voucher if I buy a full bottle!). They also do an advent calendar where you get soaps and travel size perfumes as well as the samples which looks good. Next year will probably be a perfume calendar again, 4160 Tuesdays looks a good option.

I have the Look Fantastic one and would recommend it. The products are a great size and I've loved most so far.

Our only complaint on the thread is that there are quite a lot of moisturisers/skin care products.

Mayhemmumma · 20/12/2017 18:28

I got the Amazon one for £35 lots of different brands and it's pretty good stuff (some a bit crap like stick on nails but varied). I loved the m&s one last year but thought this year looked quite similar.

Jealous of the look fantastic one I couldn't justify the money

Laska5772 · 20/12/2017 18:35

I was given the Cowshed one . which is all body products but I love it..
Also the Ciate nail polish one.. which i also love .. both quite niche i suppose though

DD has the the Look Fantastic one i .. ( we have been spoilt with calendar gifts this year) .. Its been very good, and she has been pleased but as I am not a big makeup wearer I wouldn't have used many of the products ..

SouthWestmom · 20/12/2017 18:42

I have m and s dd has amazon (she loved the nails for her night out!) and I will go amazon next year. I don't like the m and s one it feels a bit old and weird.

YouWereRight · 20/12/2017 18:42

I've had M&S one that year and last. This year has been a bit meh, lots of duplicates, and more m&s branded stuff than last year.

The liberty one is the one I'd most want, but it's out of my price range. I sort of wish I'd gone for the ASOS one this year.

passemoilevin · 20/12/2017 19:15

The ASOS one is amazing. Really impressed with it.

Rachie1986 · 20/12/2017 19:25

Oooh good thread. I had m&s this year and it was ok but not great. Want to try another one next year x

peppapignonstop · 20/12/2017 19:34

Hi my DH spoilt me this year with diptyque one. Its lovely if you are a big fan of candals not sure i would splash out again. The little bottles of perfume are lovely.

PNGirl · 20/12/2017 19:40

I got the cheapest Body Shop one 30% off on the 2nd and it's been fabulous. Loads of mini shower gels, body lotions/butters/makeup remover, and hand cream which I will use all year. Great for travel!

domesticslattern · 20/12/2017 19:43

The second cheapest Body Shop one is proving good too. Also bought it with a hefty discount.

10thingsIhateAboutTheDailyMail · 20/12/2017 19:46

I am loving the M&S one

Don't normally splash out on cosmetics or cream, so am happily slapping on everything Blush

userofthiswebsite · 20/12/2017 19:50

LF one is okay, though not much makeup. It's the first time I've bought a beauty AC.
Still 5 boxes to go and then I'll decide whether to bother next year.

SymphonyofShadows · 20/12/2017 19:56

I've had M&S and Boots No7. I've liked both but Boots has had more make-up, some brushes and tweezers along with the serums etc. I've had one before and I'd definitely get it again.

Rockandrollwithit · 20/12/2017 19:58

I've got the NYX lipstick one and I'm loving it. A decent range of shades and a few of each of their most popular products (lip lingerie, soft matte lip cream etc). The lipsticks are a decent size too.

IcelandicWarriors · 20/12/2017 20:01

Anybody have the Loccitane one? My first one and I really like it but might go for one with some makeup next year.

BlueEyedWonder · 20/12/2017 20:03

I had the M&S one last year and it was great so I got it again this year. But it’s not been nearly as good. I feel like they’ve filled it with free samples and unpopular nail varnish colours. Also 2 mascaras and 2 lip colours that are very similar.

I wish I’d spent a bit more and gone for the John Lewis one.

LizzieSiddal · 20/12/2017 20:09

I've had the M&S one and it's the first year I've bought a calendar.

I'm not sure I'd get a beauty one again. Im feeling overwhelmed with all the products and there's only one thing I'd definitely buy, full sized.

PartridgeInAPetri · 20/12/2017 20:10

I've had both of the Bomb Cosmetics calenders. They are brilliant and I'll definitely get them again next year.

LambMadras · 20/12/2017 20:17

I've got the Clarins one. It's only got 12 days but everything is great inside. So far had a full size mascara, a decent size shower gel, make up remover, lip gloss etc. I love it.

purpleRH · 22/12/2017 05:18

I am really enjoying my Essie nails calendar; so many lovely colours and products! It’s replenished my nail polish drawer as I three quite a few older bottles away recently.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 22/12/2017 05:32

I Have the John Lewis calendar this year.
I’ve really enjoyed it, a nice mix of creams, make up & perfume. I’d definitely recommend it!

GetSchwifty · 22/12/2017 05:38

I had the l’occitaine calendar this year. It’s quite nice, lots of mini hand creams and body lotions, even a shampoo and conditioner. There’s a bath bomb I’m looking forward to using. There are quite a few soaps though and I don’t really use them. It is a lot of money for what you get.

Callmecordelia · 22/12/2017 06:16

I've got the l'occitane and M&S one - early December birthday.

I think I prefer the l'occitane one, but that's mainly because I love the brand and use the products anyway, so everything will get used. The M&S one has been fun, with some lovely surprises (the sponge was a revelation!) but there have been a few misses. I thought there would be an eye shadow, or lipstick.
