One earring?

I had my ears pierced over thirty years ago, when I was 12.

Since then, the right ear has had to be repierced several times - it seems to heal overnight. It bleeds when I put earrings in it and is a general pain in the arse.

Thing is, I've got some lovely earrings that I don't want to waste - I love wearing them.

Would it look stupid to give up on the right ear and just wear earring in my left? Would I just look like I'd lost one?

Or get a stud put in the right that I never change and change up the left side only?

Or does anyone have a solution to the magically healing ear problem?

I do think you would look odd with ine earring in, yes. You would probably have people constantly pointing out that you had lost one Grin

Couldn't you wear small studs or sleepers most of the time and just change to your nice earrings as and when you need to? Your ear surely wouldn't heal up in the ten seconds it takes to change them over.

I wear 2 pairs of small hoop earrings day to day and change them for nice ones when I go out, so I have always got earrings of some description in.

Damn. I was hoping to rock the Shakespeare look Grin

Looks like yet another repiercing then Sad

I think I’d get a stud put in that I never change, then just change the other one. I always have mismatched earrings and nobody ever mentions it.

TossDaily · 20/12/2017 12:44

I could do that, cannae. I think I will.

Mismatched earrings are quite fashionable.

I wear sometimes one earring (usually a massive dangly one, too) and feel good in it. I don't feel odd and no one has ever commented! And I wouldn't mind if they did because I think it looks banging. So go for it, OP!

I had this very same problem (only one eat causing problems) until I realised my skin could only tolerate real gold and silver. Everything else I seem to get a mild allergic reaction to.

I thought that was a look at the minute?

To be honest I’ve been searching mismatched earrings latelyConfused. I would totally wear that. I think it’d look great.

Floisme · 21/12/2017 07:43

I always used to wear two studs in one ear and a dangler in the other.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 21/12/2017 09:19

If you are constantly re-piercing, I would just get a second hole in the left ear and either let the right hole close up, or leave a simple stud in.

Unless you’re very young and trendy, you might get people telling you that you’ve lost an earring. I’m not sure how you went about things when your ear was pierced but I think I wore studs in my ears for months if not a year without taking them off. Otherwise things can heal pretty quickly.

Mismatched is fine!
I wear sleeper hoops in mine though and leave them in all the time (unless I'm changing them for a night out or whatever) Is that an option?
