Best way to style a fine, straight long bob for evening?

So my hair is fine, straight and fairly thin, highlighted, I usually do absolutely nothing to it in the daytime except wash and go. Boring but safe.

However if I'm going out in the evening I would like to make it look a bit more interesting somehow.

Any ideas? I am clueless and have no idea where to start.

Waves or an updo perhaps? It needs to be something that doesn't take ages as I usually have very little time to get ready after putting the kids to bed. I wouldn't have time to rewash and blow dry for instance.

I'm happy to buy a tool or products to achieve it. And to follow youtube or MNer instructions...

Thanks!

Pinterest is great for this! You can type in your length and style of hair then see lots of pictures

I saw a video about curling hair whilst it's up in a high ponytail - I had a quick go with my straighteners and it works!

I struggle normally to curl the back so this was so much easier

My hair is shoulder length and fine.

Thanks I will google. At present I don't own straighteners just an ancient curling wand, though willing to buy some if they will give me a good evening do

I used a hair band and curled the ends, it worked well

How about flicking the ends out by drying with a round brush?
