Dior Nail Glow- worth the money?

I don’t like nail varnish, so I’ve been using an Aldi nail brightener which is pretty good. I’ve seen a recommendation for the Dior version and I’m wondering whether it’s worth the £20 cost?

I love Nail Glow. Healthy pink glossy nails in 2 coats. Dries quickly. I don't know what the Aldi product is like so I can't compare it.

DameDoom · 17/12/2017 08:11

I'm on my 4th bottle. It's brilliant, doesn't peel and you only need one coat. Other, cheaper products give the same effect but peel. I think it's well worth the cost.

Blahblahblahzeeblah · 17/12/2017 08:12

It's one of my favourite products. So easy to apply and it lasts well. I've only tried the dior version though x

Three positive replies so early on a Sunday morning ! Thanks sounds like it’s worth the money.

I’ll add to the positivity Xmas Grin
I’m on my second bottle and it’s great. Very high quality product, not a single negative from me.

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 17/12/2017 08:55

I love it. Am half way through my first bottle and will definitely buy again.

DameDoom · 17/12/2017 09:00

And it's a great gift for those who want nice nails but hate the faff of polish and are totally cack-handed. The box is a thing of beauty. It does get a bit crusty towards the end of the bottle so needs to be kept upright - learnt this on bottle number 2.
The optical brightening is just right - looks like perfectly buffed nails whereas cheaper versions veer into TOWIE territory. No one wants overly whitened teeth or nails IMHO.

PhoenixIsRising · 17/12/2017 09:04

Yes this is my favourite nail product and lasts ages. Well worth the money.

DameDoom · 17/12/2017 09:04

I think the perfect description is : freshly scrubbed kitten ... but for nails. Gentle scrubbing obvs.
I read that once in Vogue - describing a young Kate Moss.

Tempnamelady · 17/12/2017 09:10

Yep that’s the look I’m after I think. Nail varnish just doesn’t work for my lifestyle ( lots of gym and dog walking ) .

Did anyone ever use Goodbye Yellow by Barbara Daly for Tesco? It was amazing, but was discontinued a few years ago. This sounds like it might be a decent ( if more expensive) replacement.

DameDoom · 17/12/2017 09:29

Bitterboy absolutely. Babs was ahead of her time. It peeled like a bugger though. I only repeat buy if a product is amazing and I really rate Nail Glow.

RubbishMantra · 17/12/2017 16:05

Another one here that uses and likes Nail Glow! I don't like the look of nail varnish on myself, so this is perfect.

Soaking bare nails in citric acid tablets dissolved in water helps to brighten them too.

explodingkittens · 17/12/2017 18:14

I love Nail Glow. But I had a bottle that fell over in the drawer and it completely gummed up the lid and became unusable, so I agree with DameDoom - for some reason the bottles really don't cope with not being kept upright.

My nails did look lovely and pinky-healthy whilst I was using it, though!

carolhere · 17/12/2017 18:34

Its great! I use it every time I apply a color on my nails. It helps to let your nails look healthy.

Figuier · 17/12/2017 18:36

Another positive vote here. But only one layer for me, I don't like it with two layers, looks far too unnatural with a weird purpley tint. But one layer, fantastic.

AmethystMoon · 17/12/2017 18:40

I used to use Barbara Daly’s Goodbye Yellow too. I bought up a few cheap when they discontinued the range but now this is my (better) but more expensive replacement.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 17/12/2017 18:43

Could someone post a pic of the result?

I gave had the aldi nail brightener - think it is fab stuff for the money. Also, I bought an Essence gel base in Wilkos for pennies which has surprisingly turned out to be a lovely nail brightener too.

LemonadeWithACherry · 31/12/2017 20:31

I love the sound of this stuff! I can't cope with chips in coloured nail polish but I would like my nails to look bright and shiny.

Does anyone know what the ingredients are like? I have very sensitive nails, I think; I had to give up polish because my nails started to lift away from the nail bed and have white patches- they cleared up when I stopped. I don't know if it was because of polish or the remover (acetone free) but I suppose with this product I would remove it less (as chips don't show).

Dior Nail Glow- worth the money?
CointreauVersial · 31/12/2017 23:57

I love it. Perfect when you want your nails to look neat/groomed/shiny but haven't the time/energy to do a full manicure.

It chips eventually, but you hardly notice.

I have two coats on currently - a bit hard to see, though!

joangray38 · 01/01/2018 01:48

Dried my nails out.

LemonadeWithACherry · 01/01/2018 10:18

Thankyou Ilovecherries for the ingredients! Although I don't actually know how to interpret them or if they might be kinder to my nails than the ones in other polish. Smile

Botanicbaby · 01/01/2018 15:03

If you can get your hands on a bottle of Orly in Beverley Hills Plum, this gives a lovely polished glow to your nails and doesn't peel. It looks like clear pink in the bottle but gives a shiny glow once applied. Makes your nails look nice and manicured without the worry of chipped colour.

Botanicbaby · 01/01/2018 15:08

Oops meant to say that it only costs about 6 or 8 pounds so you can get similar look to Dior nail glow without the hefty price tag. It lasts forever and doesn't go gloopy either.
