Anyone ever had a refund for derma fillers?

I had 0.5ml filler in my top lip but it went wrong. It went all bumpy and uneven and looked terrible. The clinic that did it couldn't fit me in so I had to go elsewhere and get it dissolved then had to pay to have it filled again.

Could I get a refund from the original clinic? It's £180 that's basically made me look an idiot for a week then I had to get rid.

What are my chances of a refund?

You can sue . Do you have images?

Do you have photos of it before you corrected it? If so, I would suggest going back to the original clinic along with the receipts from when you dissolved it at another clinic and explain to them you weren't happy and had to pay to correct their mistake so you'd like your money back as you weren't satisfied. I'd check on their website if they have a policy but from my previous experience having lip filler (had the same amount as you) my Dr told me that it takes a month for the filler to completely settle so they may tell you that you didn't wait enough time for the product to settle and that they cannot offer you anything. It's worth a shot though as you had a bad experience and I would definitely complain.

This is a recognised complication of the procedure. Did you sign a consent form that included this? If you did there's no chance I'm afraid.

Yes,i have, not in my lips but lines above, I had them done by someone who apparently was only just starting up, she said she had done this before, anyway I went back and I told her I would like a refund, also the filler removing, I did say I would take it further,as I was told by another practitioner that she had used the wrong filler, for the lip lines, she wasn't a prescriber so didn't have the hyalase that dissolves it,
It took another 3 months to get it removed as she had to bring in a prescriber from another town, but she knew she had made a mess of it, because she put makeup on straight away, which you are not supposed to do
If I were you I would go back and ask for a refund, and if possible get the person who removed the filler if they would back you up, if they thought it was wrongly done, [although they might not want to get involved]
On the other hand things can go wrong, and you might be allergic to the filler]
Otherwise threaten county court
Also ring consumer protection, they deal with this kind of thing too, and will advise you the best way to go about it
Good luck,

I think this would be difficult as fillers are non refundable.

You can try to file a chargeback with your bank for services not as described. If you write a detailed cover letter to your bank with the issues you faced, photographs, the correctional procedure receipt and the correspondence with the first clinic they may be able to assist you.

But really focus on the medical side of things rather than the aesthetics. Fillers aren’t miracle treatments and can accidentally accentuate uneven lips (with a thin upper lip you won’t notice how uneven they naturally are - you will when you plump them), or you may metabolise product fast or have a rough healing process. This is generally why clinics make you fill in disclaimer forms. If it’s a basic aesthetic thing then you may lose the chargeback. Focus on any injury caused, bad techniques, extreme bumps/uneven shape, difficulty talking/breathing etc - your photos should clearly illustrate this.
