Is there such a thing as dressed down/casual mid-high heels?

I'm thinking a black boot to see me through to spring, must be casual but I desperately want a heel (feeling short & grumpy & surrounded by tall leggy types at the school gates!) ... does a casual boot with a decent heel (at least 2.5 inches) exist? I don't want to look 'done up' but I do want to be taller. Quite frankly I'm sick of flat shoes which don't do me any favours.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

What about a wedge?

Have a look at Hudson, excellent quality leather boots for a decemt price and they have fantastic salesz. Also Ash.

My first thought was something akin to the Isabel Marant Dicker/Ash Jalouse or Acne Pistol boot. In S&B terms a little dated as flat chelsea boots seem to be more current (although you can get heeled chelsea boots, check out Russell and Bromley if you have some ££££). Also do not search this forum for any Acne Pistol reference as they or their tributes are much derided as the quintessential “mum boot”. Ignore.

@NC4now I'll have a google but can't really envisage a wedge boot. I'll see what's about.

Also this kind of 60s boot is everywhere (personally I find Zara shoes cripplingly painful but knew they would have an example). You’ll definitely get a great sale deal on this style soon.

Knee high (not casual enough? Can definitely be worn with casual clothes)

Biker low boots

Chelsea boots with a mid heel

Laced ankle boots

Wedge ankle boots (dangerously close to Mum Boot territory, but might be OK in the flesh)

How casual is casual to you? What kind of outfit would they be going with?

upsidedown2017 · 13/12/2017 21:25

@NC4now - skinny jeans, wool coat or smart parka. My style is pretty minimal/classic

I quite like these as an alternative to trainers for example:

upsidedown2017 · 13/12/2017 21:27

@mrsmildred thanks for the suggestion but the Zara boot would be too dressy for me

@OlennasWimple - out of the ones you posted I'm wondering if biker boots might be the direction I need to look in. There seem to be quite a few with a decent heel, whilst still looking casual

Or these Rocket Dog boots are pretty casual.

There are some nice heeled boots by carvella (see House of Fraser website)
