Gimme Brow alternative

PrincessWatermelon · 13/12/2017 14:24

I’ve enjoyed using this the last couple of years - it’s been the only thing I’ve used on my brows. But now it’s been recalled. Has anyone got any recommendations for an alternative? Thanks

Recalled? What?

Lonelynessie · 13/12/2017 21:35

Glossier boy brow is amazing.

botemp · 13/12/2017 21:37

I've recently started using Essence's Make Me Brow, I'm really pleased with it. Supposedly it's a dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brow but I've never used it so can't really tell you how they compare. It's dirt cheap so no harm in trying I suppose?

evespudding · 13/12/2017 21:37

I liked Gimme Brow but now using one from NYX

Sciurus83 · 13/12/2017 22:05

It's only been recalled because some utter numpties had been using it on their eyelashes and surprise surprise the fibres irritate eyes. Carry on using it properly on brows without fear!

I love Gimme Brow but have read rave reviews about Glossier Boy Brow but haven't tried it yet. If you still have some of the Benefit one left, i would keep using it for the reasons stated above!

PrincessWatermelon · 14/12/2017 15:23

Oh I’m absolutely using mine up! But it’s getting fairly low, so wondered what I should move to next. It does seem like an utter numpty would use it on eyelashes!

Will look up the Glossier one. Thanks.

The Glossier one is great. My brows aren't as luxuriant as they once were (my 10 year old DD has stolen my old brows!) but the BoyBrow makes them look thicker but in a very natural way. I don't look like I've filled them in but they look so much better.

rightknockered · 17/12/2017 12:20

Can you use the Glossier Boy Brow to fill in where you're losing the 'tail' on your brow?

Housewife2010 · 17/12/2017 12:40

I used it on the actual hairs so it thickens what is there. If you want to extend it past the hairs a fine pencil would be better. You can always use the two together. I bought the BoyBrow in a set with the Stretch Concealer (also fab - it's quite sheer and very easy to blend) and one of the lipsticks. They do them separately but I wanted to try the other two items and there was £5 off if you bought all three together and free delivery with a £25 spend.

Ekphrasis · 23/12/2017 06:50

Hi @Housewife2010, what did you think of the lipstick? (Gen g??)

Housewife2010 · 23/12/2017 07:10

Hello. I bought it in Zip (the red) and it was far more opaque than I had thought it would be. I'm wearing it blotted with lipbalm. I'd like to try a sheerer one next time. It feels comfortable but is too bright for me when just applied by itself. (I really like sheer red lipsticks/tints.) The Cloud paint blusher is nice and quite sheer so very easy to apply.

Ekphrasis · 23/12/2017 07:27

I'm also looking at the cloud paints but getting tied in knots about which one/s!

I never use lipstick as I've never found one that looks right for my colouring as I do have rosy cheeks but so many little veins etc I tend to calm it all down with something first then bring them back (! Mad I know). So actually now tend to keep my lips natural no colour and focus on eyes and cheeks.

Is dusk almost bronzer tint like?

Ekphrasis · 23/12/2017 07:29

Lots of pale freckles too; I feel like a Jackson Pollock painting!

Arealhumanbeing · 23/12/2017 10:40

Definitely Glossier Boy Brow.

Does anyone know if Gimme Brow will be back.

dinosaursandtea · 23/12/2017 10:45

Beauty Pie’s brow pencil is AMAZING. Lasts forever, does a brilliant job.

Housewife2010 · 23/12/2017 20:37

Dusk is a sort of peachy browny nude. It's lighter than bronzer. It's sheer and doesn't add much colour (I'm NC20 in Mac). I think I'll get a pinker shade next time. I've worn the BoyBrow and stretch concealer daily for about 6 weeks now which is very good going for me. I'm always buying makeup and switch it around a lot but I reach for these two items everyday.

MountainDweller · 23/12/2017 23:20

Modelco More brow is good - I have dark brown brows but the medium/dark shade was good for me.

fuzzyllama · 23/12/2017 23:25

I've been using illamasqua brow build for the last year or so and love it so much that I don't even bother with pencilling in any more. Definitely intrigued to try glossier boy brow with all the hype it gets though.

bingohandjob · 23/12/2017 23:43

Been using Glossier Boy Brow for last few weeks and love it - really easy to apply and great natural look but the tube is TINY and seems it'll run out really quickly.

Ekphrasis · 24/12/2017 06:33

What brow colour is best? I'm
Brunette and my eyebrows are a tad sparse. abd very neglected. They're like the video for the black bit brow except I'm fair. I wear black mascara but when I got my eyebrows dyed once I got them brown black. Is it better to go darker?

Ekphrasis · 24/12/2017 06:33

Thanks for the cloud info house.

Ollivander84 · 24/12/2017 06:54

I want to try the glossier one!
Am using Barry M Take a Brow - only comes in one colour but if it's a match then it works, it's a huge tube and dirt cheap. Also like the W7 queen of brows
