Have splashed out on this dress for works Christmas do. What shoes and tights should I buy to wear it with? Usually wear flats and am stuck for ideas. What colour and what sized heel to dance in?!

Mid sized nude or black would be a safe bet. If you are feeling very brace you could go for a brightly coloured suede but wth the tassels I think it would be OTT unless you work for a quirky company. No Metallica with black unless it's 80s themed.

Mary Janes are probably the easiest for dancing in if you aren't used to heels, and they would fit the retro style of the dress

Otherwise, strappy sandals would also work well

I would wear nude tights with a closed shoe and no tights with sandals

You could go for any colour really.. I’d probably go for a cobalt or a red. Asos have lots of sale shoes at the moment - party type ones.

I think the dress has a flapper/1920's feel about it, so what about something like these? If you normally wear flats they're not very high so you won't feel uncomfortable in them and the strap adds a bit of extra support too. They come in black as well.

Just wear sparkly lower heels. Russell and Bromley have some sling backs. At least a silver sparkly pair will go with everything for years. The red shoes above would ruin a classic dress in my view. Or black suede pumps. Anything elegant will be fine.

Look at the satin and velvet flat shoes in Zara for inspiration! Just beautiful and inexpensive.

Don’t do Mary Janes or you will look like you’re in twenties costume.

Try Asos leopard low heels
