Which wedding dress do you think - I'm 42

Getting married next year hopefully. It's just going to be me and DP and our two children. Just want something that's pretty. Doesn't need to be a wedding dress per se. Saw a company on Facebook that seems to have some really pretty dresses. Which one do you like the best?

I'm a dress size 12 and 5ft 7. Hair colour a blondey brown (with grey 😜)

The second one - the first one looks rather unflattering in the bust, and my rule is that if something looks even slightly unflattering on the airbrushed model, whatever's wrong with it will be magnified tenfold on a real person.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 09/12/2017 23:46

I prefer long dresses but I still think the second is nicer, looks more expensive and more like a wedding dress.

twinklefeather · 09/12/2017 23:49

I like both and looked at the second for my wedding but I’m much shorter than you also Chi chi London is a proper brand with shop so make sure you order from their site. Good luck Smile

Lashalicious · 09/12/2017 23:51

I love them both. Gorgeous! I prefer the long length of the first one. Congratulations, op!!

SleepFreeZone · 10/12/2017 07:46

twinkle I didn't know that!! Thank you! I can go direct to them, brilliant 👍

Chi chi London is also often available via Debenhams, dorothy Perkins, asos etc, so when you’ve chosen your dress do a google search for it and pick the retailer you trust/prefer/who has the best price!

I prefer the 2nd one. I have curvy hips and have tried on chi chi dresses, I find that because the net is tightly gathered at the waist line it can stick out a bit, which is what you want on the second one, not so much the first.

However, with the dresses available from lots of trustworthy retailers you could get both, try on, and return one

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 10/12/2017 07:54

I love the first one.

We got married similarly and I went into House of Frasier and tried on lots of dresses till I found "the one" It was dove grey and full length but not overly evening-ey or wedding-ey.

Misstomrs · 10/12/2017 08:00

I vote for the second one - I love knee length wedding dresses and if I ever did it again (which I hope not to do!) then I would go knee length. It’s more playful and relaxed. Perfect for a nice pair of heals and a glass of fizz somewhere afterwards without being self-conscious. But it does also need to suit your style. If you’re planning hair up and more striking than average make up then go with #two. Hair down with lighter make up, go with option 1. Either way, enjoy your day Smile

FergalBurgal · 10/12/2017 08:05

The first one. It's beautiful.
I actually tried the second one as an option for my own wedding and it looked awful on me so that may be clouding my judgement.

SleepFreeZone · 10/12/2017 08:19

Curls that's good to know, thank you 💐 I might size up to a 14 then and be safe.

They're both gorgeous but I like the second one too. You'll have to order both to try then send one back?

spankhurst · 10/12/2017 11:08

Second one.

SleepMoon · 10/12/2017 14:46

First one better than 2nd, but personally I would find something else.

Lily2007 · 10/12/2017 14:53

Like the top half of both but the style of lower half I prefer more fitted. Of the two first I find more elegant.

CastielIsMyAngel · 10/12/2017 15:06

Much prefer the second one

lifesaverormassmurderer · 10/12/2017 16:02

I say first one too.

SenecaFalls · 10/12/2017 16:06

Another vote for the second one.

Madbengalmum · 10/12/2017 16:07

First is by far the nicest

annandale · 10/12/2017 16:09

Second one. But I would always want to try dresses on - what's their returns policy like?

Oly5 · 10/12/2017 16:28

First one! It’s lovely

FrogsLegs32 · 10/12/2017 16:31

Chichi have loads of discounts and sales on so make sure you sign up to the mailing list and get the codes to use.

I have the second dress in a different colour in a 12. It is comfortable but as someone else mentioned, a lot of the lace dresses poof out at the waist which can look cute but it depends if you would like that.

I’d order both and just return them free of charge if they aren’t right for you:)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/12/2017 16:36

Both very pretty - but the second one has the edge. I also think it has more potential to be worn afterwards - you could have it dyed if you wanted to make it less wedding-y if you preferred.

SleepFreeZone · 10/12/2017 16:36

I don't need anything particularly weddingy or expensive so I think I'll order a couple of different designs and see what I think. On the Chi Chi website the first one looked a lot pinker than the original photo I linked too which has put me off a bit 😬

Petalflowers · 10/12/2017 16:38

They are both gorgeous, and I think would suit different people.

The pinky one would suit a pear shaped figure (like me), whilst the cream one would suit someone with good legs(unlike me). I think, you would have to try them both on and see what suits you best.

Marissa2727 · 10/12/2017 17:23

First one for 42, it looks elegant Smile
