Ankle length trousers, what shoes?

I'm tall with long 34" legs. Jeans aren't a problem but for everyday trousers I tend to wear ankle length straight cotton stretch.

Apart from this time of year I wear bare ankles with pumps or loafers but what do I wear in the cold?

Socks, popsocks or should I get shoe boots?
I need to look smartish rather than trendy. Can anyone advise?

I go for brogues with 'no show' socks.

On very cold days I wear plain black normal socks but it definitely doesn't look as good..

I love Clarks Hamble Oak's with ankle length trousers in this weather. They're so comfortable, come in lots of colours and are weatherproof enough not to leak when I'm outside with my Reception class during the week.

I tried ankle boots with pop socks to work last week as my Chelsea boots are only just long enough for this but the trousers kept catching and riding on the pop socks. I looked okay in the mirror but I felt a bit clownish

If you are going to buy something buy a sock boot that comes up high enough.

Thanks. I've got some of those shorty socks, I didn't know they had a name.

Brogues don't really suit me, I'm tall with big feet and they look a bit clown like.

Bumping for some more experts...

Honestly? I’d wear trainers and socks for the commute and switch to loafers or ballet pumps indoors.
