Hair Extensions or Not (wedding)

Soooo...I’m torn. My hair is currently at that annoying “not any decent length or cut” stage because I was considering hair extensions (tape or micro rings) for my wedding (I’d continue them after the wedding), but I keep going back and forth. On one hand, I’d love gorgeous long hair to play with and curl, but on the other, I loved my hair in an inverted bob - it was sleek, sexy and easy to deal with. And apparently it really suits me.

Any advice? On one hand I’m thinking I may always wonder “what if’” if I don’t get the extensions, but on the other hand, it would save me a lot of money and hassle if I didn’t.

If you are going to have extensions go for the tape ins it’s a much cheaper method they last for ages and if you don’t like them you can remove them yourself, all extensions are high maintenance though, you will have to buy sulphate free shampoos and conditioners, you won’t be able to leave your hair to dry naturally it must be blow dried and wearing your hair up will be difficult as the tapes could show. At first they can feel uncomfortable, like having a too tight ponytail until you become accustomed to them and when I had them for the first couple of weeks I was very aware I had things stuck to my hair, also my hair never felt really clean as you have to wash carefully around the bonds and I could never give it a really good scrub! The upsides though are you have lovely thick swishy hair and feel and look like a hair advert! So if you can put up with the downsides go for it!

I had micro rings when we got married and loved them. I didn't go for masses of length but just enough volume and a couple of extra inches.

Do your research and find somewhere that can show you an extensive portfolio of their work and knows their stuff. Loads of places will offer them but, done badly, they can just ruin your hair. Done well you'll just look like you with a bit of 'oomph'.

I’d go for micro ring extensions personally, my friend had hair extensions for her wedding (think they were great lengths ones, so not sure how they were applied but were v v discreet) and they looked amazing! It’s the one day of your life where you want to look extra special/ beautiful so why not have something you don’t normally have!

I probably wouldn't bother and would just have a nice up do instead ? Mine was at that in between stage and I had a messy bun

Extensions look OTT and obvious IMO.

Micro ring extensions are the way to go. It would all depend on your hair stylist. If he/she's good then by all means it would look natural on you.

Only go for the micro rings if your hair is strong/ thick enough, a decent hair stylist will assess your hair first to see if your natural hair can take the weight as they are heavier than tape ins, if your hair is fine micro rings may not be suitable.

You ladies are amazing - thanks for the advice. Still no closer to making a decision but at least I’m armed with more info!

Are you going on honeymoon? I'd imagne extensions might be a nuisance with lots of sun, sea and sand.

We are going on honeymoon, but it’s January in Italy. :)
