Which brands of nail polish do you recommend?

Had a mini manicure yesterday, never normally do anything with my nails. I can’t justify the cost regularly but I was thinking of treating myself to a decent nail polish for Christmas. Have no idea which brand to go for though. Are there any really great ones? Need to be able to get at Boots ideally (big store here with lots of ranges).

OPI all the way. Working in a school office with lots of typing, filing, counting cash etc. I'm hard on my nails but OPI lasts longer than anything else I've tried.

I used to always have my nails done and found it more important to have an excellent base and top coat than the actual polish itself.

I like Rimmel, OPI and Essie nail polishes and the OPI base and top coat. Chanel have some great colors and with the good base and top coat don't chip. OPI have some very similar colors and costs half as much.

I like Chanel. Great colours, they last well (both the colours on your nails and the bottle of varnish).

I like Essie too. Great shades.
