Ladies, I want inspiration I love Whistles dresses. But what other are great options for work? knee length ideally, something comfy, I am in my 40s but want something slightly on trend without being too much.
Budget 60-100 ish , but inspire me and in a few weeks I may afford them in the sales! 👗👗👗

Definitely check out Phase Eight and Boden although I find Phase Eight are more durable.

Elmosmum · 07/12/2017 19:50

Oliver bobas has some nice funky grown up styles

CountFosco · 07/12/2017 19:58

My work dresses mainly come from Boden because they do petite but I also like COS. Baukjen is good as well.

Carminia · 07/12/2017 20:29

Ohh, thank you!!
Ronniepasas - just checking Linea, had not checked that before and I am quite liking the look of this, a classic one

You're all at a different price point to me but I find Debenhams and Next usually do nice quality stuff. I don't often buy online as I'm not a standard size

littlekellysmum · 07/12/2017 21:57

I find M&S Collection Half Spotted Wrap Dress to be very trendy and suitable for work as well.

peachypetite · 07/12/2017 22:02

Linea have some gorgeous ones in the sale

MsJaneAusten · 07/12/2017 22:04

I like John Lewis fit and flare dresses for work.

BikeRunSki · 07/12/2017 22:10

Boden, because their long length dresses have the waist in the right place for me, even though I sometimes need to take the hem up.
I have a long torso but not especially long legs.

Dress waists are usually too high for me, even many “tall” ranges just have longer skirts, with the waist barely under my boobs.

MoonlightandMusic · 07/12/2017 22:35

Keep an eye on Reiss, Hugo Boss, Massimo Dutti and Cos too (although with Cos dresses def. need to be tried on).

blue2014 · 07/12/2017 22:54

Roman originals - classic dresses, really cheap and great quality.

Bolshybookworm · 07/12/2017 22:57

Closet London, their dresses aren't too short which I like. Massive range too and they have loads of fit and flare for those of us with child-bearing hips Grin

Ohyesiam · 07/12/2017 22:58

Boden have a gorgeous black denim sleeved dress this season, which is really flattering, and looks much more expensive than it is.

NisekoWhistler · 07/12/2017 23:08

Ebay is your friend. Keep popping in to LK bennett and reiss to try on what your like then keep and eye out on eBay. You often get beautiful LK bennett dresses for £50 that were originally £200

blue2014 · 07/12/2017 23:10

(They're mostly awful on Roman at the moment! Do look again though - they usually have real classics)

Carminia · 08/12/2017 07:58

So many to choose from!
Nisekowhistler - yes I keep looking on ebay, but I must stop in an LK bennet shop and try a couple on to get a feel for their sizing. There is a couple on ebay I have my eye on!

I had forgotten about Closet, will keep in mind.

I have a new job you see, so I think I need a couple of new outfits!
But I just got this on the Hobbs sale and will wait for a second one in January

Thank you lovelies

Bikerunski - do you order long from Boden? Would you go for the same size if you ordered a regular? Or the Long ones come looser?
Eg if you are 12, you just go for 12 long?
I have the same issue with my waist, but I have regular legs 😀

BikeRunSki · 08/12/2017 19:46

I order “Long” in my normal size. The width is the same, but the length is longer- waist lower, longer skirt etc - but properly proportioned.

slimyslitheryslug · 08/12/2017 19:51

Ooh, I didn't know Oliver Bonas was online. That's cheered me up.
OP if you need suits, I recommend stalking all of the dept stores in the sales & mixing and matching. I have had ridiculously cheap suits where, for example, House of Fraser only has the jacket in & John Lewis only has the matching skirt left.
