Can anyone recommend a good foundation that’s not thick and cakey plus a powder for my 16 year old DD

Bobbi Brown has a good powder foundation. Skin Weightless Powder I think.

She needs a good primer too. My faves are smashbox stick primer (can be used for on the go touch ups), and the ordinary high adherence primer.

Foundations for oily skin - my faves are:

Maybelline fit me matte & poreless - awesome even for the bargain price, just wish it was cruelty free so I could buy it again
Smashbox studio 24hr liquid foundation- this Does. Not. Budge. It's superb.
The ordinary serum foundation - I love this.

Powder:

Laura Mercier translucent loose powder is totally fab although pricey, but the pot is big and it lasts forever.
Fenty beauty powder is also fab (pressed one for on the go)
Sleek professional finishing powder (loose - can't get it from boots etc need to buy off eBay) is a great budget option, my current fave powder.

I hated both of the Ordinary foundations but they were cheap to try out. I really like NYX mineral stick foundation, easy to blend and lots of shades. Currently using a Dior one but might be out of budget for a 16 year old.
I don't like powders. I don't feel they help my make-up last any longer but look terrible and cakey when the oil (inevitably) breaks through. I have used loads over the years and never found one that worked.
I am using a Benefit mattifier just now, from the Porefessional range but it's not the primer. Quite like it - foundation goes on nicely and lasts a bit longer but my forehead is still oily later in the day. Wasn't a fan of the Ordinary primers either, not terrible but I wouldn't buy it again. I have used Smashbox light primer but not the stick - might give this a go as I'm a sucker for new things.
