A clearly good quality scarf - recommendations please!

I seem to see a lot of very thin printed type scarves around and I want something that is better quality, probably oversized and in fairly conservative colours/patterns (no sparkles/cheap paisley etc). I also strongly dislike things hanging off the end like tassles etc.
Please can anyone recommend me a shop/stockist!
Thank you!

Do you want a woolly scarf or a silk type scarf?

Brightredpencil · 03/12/2017 21:46

Silk type probably.. less Rupert the bear more... I don't know... someone who wears naive scarves!! (Jenny Murray?!?)

My DB bought my DM and I beautiful Liberty scarves from e-bay last year. I have picked up some designer ones from jumble sales. John Lewis is always a good bet.

Hermes. Once you have one, there’s no buying anything else. They are works of art!

Oh and I bought an 'I fly Concorde' scarf a couple of weeks ago.

elephantoverthehill · 03/12/2017 23:14

*Vintage, obviously.

One hundred stars do lovely scarves with maps on of London, Venice etc

BluebellGal · 04/12/2017 00:01

Liberty- if only for inspiration - they have a whole floor of scarves. There’s plenty of paisley for sure, but also more conservative options and only the best quality

Floralnomad · 04/12/2017 00:07

If you are on a tighter budget Desiguel do nice ones .

Modestine · 04/12/2017 00:09

Hey, thanks for the map tip, Brenda. Thanks

I have a cos cashmere one which cost 50 quid - not Brora quality but snug and pale grey.

Orangeplastic · 04/12/2017 11:02

H&M - cashmere oversized scarf in black - £40. I bought one about 5 years ago and it's my most used scarf, it's just lovely to wear.

Tk Maxx.
I have bought several cashmere wraps this year from here by Love Cashmere and they’re brilliant luxurious scarves. Also they have good silk and Merino wool ones online.

Ecclesiastes · 04/12/2017 11:26

I second TK Maxx. If you trawl through the polyester you can find some excellent things.

Oooh One Hundred Stars is a great tip - thank you!!
