My mulberry bag has a huge stain

Don't ask but hand soap has leaked all over my tan Bayswater. I've tried blotting it with kitchen towels but the stain in horrendous. Can I send it somewhere to be saved?

I had a great service from The Handbag Restoration Company based in Whitley Bay - they have a Facebook page.

I'm going to contact them tomorrow. I'm in Kent though so I'd have to courier it to them. Can I be cheeky and ask what service you had and what a rough cost was? Is it pathetic to weep over a handbag?Sad

Mulberry have their own service too, they were lovely when I needed some of the fastenings fixed on mine. Not sure how expensive, but maybe worth getting a quote?

wowsaidtheowl · 03/12/2017 11:08

I poured a glass of red wine over mine and Mulberry were fantastic- they got the stain out and didn’t charge an awful lot. Think it was about £30.

wowsaidtheowl · 03/12/2017 11:09

I cried too.

peachypetite · 03/12/2017 11:10

Contact mulberry's own repair service

Blahblahblahzeeblah · 03/12/2017 11:10

I'd try Mulberry directly. I made an error by going to the handbag clinic who made my bag worse than I sent it to them and I had basically no where to go from there as they just stopped taking my calls. Mulberry know what finish is expected of a Mulberry bag and I imagine they'd do their best to get that for you.

PNGirl · 03/12/2017 11:30

I had exposed piping repaired on a Bayswater corner and it was 35 plus postage I think. I courier too. Mulberry wanted a lot more than that - I've just paid 25 plus VAT for one replacement stud on another bag!

PNGirl · 03/12/2017 11:32

This is an example of a stain removal.

I've not heard great things about the Handbag Clinic either.

I'm going to contact mulberry tomorrow. My poor bag. I saved for two years to treat myself to it!

Insurance claim?

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 03/12/2017 12:33

Mmm. Insurance claim! Never thought about that!

I would certainly ask them about it but also get a quote from mulberry too. It may not be worth it but like you, I save hard for my mulberry bags and would be upset if that happened to one of mine. Good luck!

Dailystuck71 · 03/12/2017 12:38

The handbag clinic have had a few bad reviews on some of the mulberry Facebook selling pages too.

AJPTaylor · 03/12/2017 12:43

I would get a quote from mulberry first and then consider claiming off insurance. Should be covered on your household policy if you have accidental damage. How much would it cost to replace?

AJPTaylor · 03/12/2017 12:45

Just googled! If mulberry cant be sure to reinstate it, claim it!

Debby08 · 03/12/2017 13:05

I think they have repair service. Let them know and to be safe do not attempt to put anything on it to avoid further damage to your bag.

MikeUniformMike · 03/12/2017 13:07

It just goes to show how much better a bar of soap is compared with handwash.

MrsPringles · 03/12/2017 13:57

Google The Handbag Spa Smile

Greymalkin · 29/12/2017 18:33

DO NOT use The Handbag Clinic!! They utterly wrecked one of my Mulberry bags and it took over a year for us to come to an agreement on suitable compensation. Never. Ever. Again.
