"Sensible" party shoes

Ok - I know I'm being a bit optimistic but I really need some shoes (not boots) to wear with a purple knee-length cocktail dress for a formal-ish event.

I can't do high or thin heels (I have dodgy knee) and don't want black as I don't generally wear black so would never wear them again.

I thought about something shiny or sparkly but am size 8/9 (42) and have wide feet so I'm struggling to find anything.

Can anyone help??

I was going to post a link to some shoes I have on my Amazon wish list in silver that sound like they'd be perfect, but they only go up to 7.5. They're dance shoes though - do you have any dance shops nearby; they may have shoes with a low heel and strap, in silver, that would fit the bill.

Thanks! Love the office ones but none in my size :-( I don't think I can wear sandals (with feet showing) but thanks anyway.

Any more ideas?

Thanks all - I realise I'm being picky, but I've remembered that I can't wear ballerina flats either. I need a block/wedge heel of 1-2 inches.
