I like cords and it seems they are in at the moment. Has anyone bought a pair, and where from?

ANd I tried on the M and S ones as well. Looked awful on me. Let’s too tight, waist too baggy. Sad

lovemylover · 30/11/2017 22:41

I bought some from M&S as they are the only place I can get any short enough, but took them back as they were very big on waist and hips, and I am a size 10, good on leg size but for someone with a bigger tum and hips than me,shame as they were only £19.99

thepatchworkcat · 30/11/2017 22:44

Oooooh I lived in cords from 1999-2001 approx! Loved them. Had some soft grey ones, 90s flarey bootcut type. I’ll have to get more. After this pregnancy that is.

Judydreamsofhorses · 30/11/2017 23:04

Mine came today. Initially I was going to send them back, because camel toe, then I realised they were meant to be a “medium rise”, whereas I usually like a properly high waist and was howkimg then up far too far. Problem solved, and they look great. I’m going to wear them with a chunky mustard jumper and black Stan Smiths. bob it’s a fab site, isn’t it? I saw it in The Pool.

ZaraW · 01/12/2017 04:38

The ones from Toast are gorgeous both colours sold out in my size.

VictoriaMcdade · 01/12/2017 07:03

If you like the Toast ones, have you seen the Brora ones. Sadly they would look awful on me...

ZaraW · 01/12/2017 08:29

Victoria thanks I prefer the Toast ones as they are pleated and cropped. They do look nice though.

Floisme · 01/12/2017 08:48

I love the Toast ones too and I wish I could get them to work. I think it's because they're a bit shorter than my other cropped trousers so there's more sock on display - I like a flash of sock but not half my calf. Plus now the temperature's dropped it's too cold anyway to wear them like that. But I really don't want to shell out for boots just to go with some trousers that were an extravagant buy in the first place.Confused

ZaraW · 01/12/2017 09:04

Floisme they might not work for me as I'm 5' 9" they don't look too short on the model

BitOutOfPractice · 01/12/2017 09:48

You made me order some cords op Angry and a cardigan and a top

Floisme · 01/12/2017 09:48

I'm only 5'3 Zara so it's only just occurred to me that this might be the problem Grin I think it's probably not so much the length of my legs but the length of my calves if that makes any sense at all. It's not something I've ever given much thought to! But there's definitely a point on my ankle where I think cropped trousers look good - anything above that, not so much.

ZaraW · 01/12/2017 10:10

Thanks if they ever come back into stock I might try them. I ordered an oversized jumper on the model it looked as it was touching the hips when I got it it went to my waist and looked awful. They had put the model in a size medium which is a 14-16 I think whilst she was obviously tiny I thought that was a bit misleading.

Floisme · 01/12/2017 10:19

Yes they're a bit Cos on steroids in the way they model stuff. But if you look at the pic (really sorry everyone, it won't let me link for some reason) they end higher up the leg on the model than some of their other cropped trousers - which I didn't notice at the time.

Floisme · 01/12/2017 10:24

Actually forget that Zara I've just checked some other pics and the difference in length now looks very small, if not negligible. I think it must be more to do with the shape of my leg - extra long calves or something.

Floisme · 01/12/2017 10:55

Here we are, I think the Toast link is working now so you can see what Zara and I are talking about.

Some of the reviews agree with me about the length. A couple just hadn't realised they were cropped but it looks as if one or two others have had the same experience as me.
If I turn down the cuff bit then they hit my ankle bone, which is just where I'd like them to end but then they lose the shape.

ZaraW · 01/12/2017 10:55

Floisme thanks I'll keep looking to see if they restock. I'm moving away from skinny jeans and these look like a good alternative.

IJustLostTheGame · 01/12/2017 11:15

I got some camel ones from urban outfitters.
I love them. They aren't too thick and stiff which I like in corduroy.

whataboutbob · 01/12/2017 13:03

Judy thanks for posting again. I am going to order some- the skinny high waist. Glad you got rid of the camel's toe!

Just coming back to say I ordered a pair of corduroy trousers from this website: thecords.co.uk/mom-coffee-brown. Atrocious customer service, they took my payment then just said they'd get back to me when they dispatched, 12 days later still hadn't heard, emailed, it took them 3 days to get back to me, just a curt message saying they were chasing it up, that was 3 days ago, still haven't heard despite emailing again. They clearly have some serious problems. Shame, the website is very attractive and in the pictures at least the clothes look good.

Oh no, bob, I feel like that’s my fault. Mine were despatched super quickly - that was just after Black Friday too.

I also got these:

www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/bdg-flood-navy-corduroy-jeans?category=womens-corduroy-collection&color=041

They are more like culottes than trousers. I love them so much.

TheDetectorist · 14/12/2017 22:18

Nothing to add to this really except that Judydreamsofhorses appearing on a thread about cords has amused me... ‘we’re four boys in our corderoys, we’re not terrific but we’re competent...’

BitOutOfPractice · 14/12/2017 22:24

I looked at the cords on next. They were such fine cord that they were almost velvet like.

Just as a heads up.

furtivefeline · 14/12/2017 22:33

I’ve been loving my gap cords- they are a skinny jean fit, really comfortable and flattering. The burgundy colour is lovely, would definitely recommend.

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/12/2017 22:43

thedetectorist , ah, this (thread) is just a sorry lament!

ilovecherries · 14/12/2017 23:20

Oh dear, I love these Toast cords. Must not buy them. I had some gorgeous cords in the 70s (goes off down memory lane). I had a pair of (extremely) flared ones that were tightly fitted round the bum and had a high, three button waist. Why did no one tell me to appreciate my body in those days, rather than never thinking it was good enough. Had I only realised that was as good as it got...Then in the 80s I had some lovely ones with a pleated waist and tapered legs. Must not buy those Toast ones.
