Nail whitening treatment

Hi, having nails is new to me as I bit them for years which may be part of the problem. My nail beds (the pink part) are very short and there is more of the white bit iyswim. The whites are really discoloured and I wondered if there was a way of whitening them? Thanks

Squeeze a lemon and then sit with your fingers in the lemon half. Make sure you wash your hands and moisturise afterwards.

Essence from Wilko do this whitening nail polish which is ok for the money, or you could do a French manicure which always looks nice.
