I had botox and now my face is puffy

I am feeling so stupid. Last week I had botox in my brow and a little in my jaw at a top place in London at great expense. Over the last few days I have woken up in the morning to my face completely puffy. My cheeks have lost some definition and my eyes actually look smaller. Everyone is saying I look different (bad different) and that I must be very tired and water retented.

I am not sure what to do? If I go back I don't want them to put MORE in. What can they actually do?

You had Botox in your jaw????

Coconutspongexo · 28/11/2017 11:17

Does it go down after morning?

If not you need to return to the Dr who done this as it appears you’re allergic to Botox, which is rare but can still occur mostly due to contaminants.

queenofthesheds · 28/11/2017 11:18

I’ve never heard of it used in the jaw! Fillers possibly...

Maudlinmaud · 28/11/2017 11:19

Ooh did you have I in your jaw for tooth grinding?
I know the look you mean op but I don't have a solution.

stickitherestickitthere · 28/11/2017 11:22

I have had botox before with a great effect. I don't know why now I am responding like this. So I don't think I am allergic to botox.

They put it near where I have some jowls, apparently it lifts the skin around the jowls to make me less jowly. It was only a tiny, tiny bit.

I am worried if I go back he's just going to give me more in a different place. And charge me for it... Has this ever happened to any of you?

You still need to go back to the Dr and tell him something is wrong. Just tell him upfront your tight on budget.

Maudlinmaud · 28/11/2017 11:26

Have you got a small face? The reason I ask is my friend gets it done a few times a year and her cheeks get puffy to begin with but it settles down in a week or two. Her doctor said it was because her face was small.

stickitherestickitthere · 28/11/2017 11:29

I do have quite a small face... maybe it is that. I keep trying to remember if I went through this beforehand, but I really don't think I did.

It felt like he put a lot in my forehead. I don't feel recognisable to myself.

I will have to go back won't I...

It sounds like you have a slight edema post Botox, even if you’ve had Botox before you can be allergic.

You need to speak to the Dr.

SerendipityFelix · 28/11/2017 20:44

Do you not have a follow-up appointment a few weeks after for review/adjustment anyway? I thought that was included as standard for Botox.

The good news is it won’t be permanent at least.

roobrr · 28/11/2017 20:46

Are you sure it was Botox? They tend to use fillers in the jaw - I always swell up and bruise BADLY after my fillers. X

queenofthesheds · 28/11/2017 20:48

Sorry OP it sounds like you’ve confused Botox and fillers.

Dontsayyouloveme · 28/11/2017 21:23

Earlier this year I tried someone different to my usual Botox person, and my eyes became puffy And hooded. She put it too close to my eyebrows and the muscles wouldn’t work in order to help with lymphatic drainage, so I retained water in the eye area. 7 months later back to my usual practitioner for top up and it was done with no such side effects. That’ll teach me!

Coconutspongexo · 29/11/2017 08:53

You can have Botox in the jowls it’s fair new, most people do get fillers in their jaw but it’s entirely possibly OP had Botox.

Toprate · 29/11/2017 09:00

Yes you can have Botox in your chin/frown lines/jowls and it prevents that down turned frown look as you can't move those muscles.
