Please help with my crap ponytail (pics)

For the life of me I can't make my ponytail look anything other than crap. I feel like it needs to be thicker at the band as it looks all limp and pathetic.

I even tried the double ponytail which I read about but that looks even worse.
Any ideas how to make it look better? Where am I going wrong?

It looks like you have thin hair? I don’t think you’ll make the pony tail look much different without volunising your hair a lot.

TBH it looks OK, like any other pony tail. It certainly doesn't look particularly thin at all.

I think it looks fine but have similar hair and feel the same when I put my hair in a bun. I usually wrap an Alice band or a scrunchie (how 90s!) But tightly enough so it's not too gathered. If you had a black scrunchie you could wrap that round a few times and that would bulk it out. Or you could probably do fancy things if you did the double pony tail but then coiled the bottom one round the top of the top ponytail and pinned it ... But that's into the realms of things I have no idea how to do.

That is not a crap ponytail!

You could try picking up a bit of hair from the length of the ponytail and wrapping it around the band. Or more simply just using a thicker hair band.

Looks good to me. You can lift up the top section of the ponytail and gently back comb the hair at the base of the pony to make it look thicker.

With the double pony tail, the second hairband needs to be wrapped around both ponytails. So giving the illusion of one thick ponytail.
Otherwise it just looks odd.

You can buy a little gadget called the Scunci perfect pony. It's basically a ring you attach to the base of your up do and cover with hair to make it look more perky.

Backcomb the underneath just behind the bobble a bit - smooth the top takes a bit of practice but gives it some ommph.

It looks fine honestly. Only you need to tie another fluffy rabbit hair band on top of the first one.Then it doesn't look thin anymore. I usually use the black ones but that is your choice.

What do you want it to look like? What's the goal ? pic?

You can do various things to add volume..a "bump it" under the front piece of hair, blow drying upside down, teasing, mousse, dry shampoo, using a crimper near your roots to lift them, hair combs to "lift" your pony tail, all sorts of sh*t.

I think it looks nice. When I had long hair my pony tail looked like a foxes tail that had been repeatedly slammed in a door!

What's a "fluffy rabbit hair band"? Not real rabbit surely?

I think it looks good! Better than mind with my horrid pubey-looking frizz tail.

I’m interested to know how you get the hair on the top of your head to puff up a bit. Mind is flat, minus the frizzy bits that escape.

Can you tell I’m having a hair crisis?
I think I’m about to revert to straightening after four years of living with the —frizz—waves.

I do lovethose lovely effortless looking pony tails which probably aren’t effortless because they are actually quite glam.

Some fab tips here. I've tried the link this morning mulberry and although I have followed all the steps - it's definitely an improvement :)

I'm going to buy that scunci tool too and see how I go.
