Nice "going out" shoes that aren't ridiculously high

I am struggling to find some posh shoes for a Christmas do/evening wedding do that I can actually walk in. Most smart shoes are just too high for me.

I am a 5.5/6 depending on the shoe, and have narrow heels but broad toe joints, which makes it difficult to wear court shoes without them feeling like flip flops.

I therefore require shoes that are either Mary Jane in style (of which I am not fond) or with an ankle strap so that they stay on my feet.

Any ideas please?

Oh, and online isn't an option because I usually end up trying on 10+ pairs of shoes before I find any that are comfortable.

Would a knee boot work?

I have similar feet and have more or less given up on going-out shoes in favour of various styles of boot (or sandal).

How about these

they are not leather, but for the price, I think they are fine for a night out.
I have ordered DS clarks shoes from here via ebay. They are quite a good online shop

Or these
Similar style to the La redoute ones, but slightlier sturdier, lower heel,

octonaught · 29/11/2017 00:23

The La Redoute site has some lovely shoes. Do they only sell online?
Yes, but the returns policy is good

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2017 08:07

Now those first shoes are really pretty octonaught. I tried the second ones on in Debenhams and they hurt my feet, sadly. I really do have awkward feet which is why I can't buy online. It would take weeks of buying and returning shoes before I could find a good fit and comfort.

Thank you so much for the suggestions.

Have a look at fashionworld , on line but do very wide shoes

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2017 08:38

bruffin I don't have wide all over feet. That is the problem. My feet are wide at the toe joints and narrow everywhere else. I also have very low arches/flat feet.

I really appreciate everyone's input here, but I will have to accept that I have blooming awkward feet.

These from Mint Velvet?

LoniceraJaponica · 29/11/2017 22:17

Ooh. They are lovely snowgirl. I wish they weren't so many £££.

I very rarely go out anywhere that requires being dressed up and can't justify the price.

Tsk! And there was 20% off Mint Velvet for ages until Tuesday, typical!

Squashit · 30/11/2017 06:57

I think you might have more success looking in Hotter or places that sell Gabor/Van Dal.

Squashit · 30/11/2017 07:04

Viviene heels from Hotter...
