Upgrading coat buttons

I recently bought a lovely black double breasted winter coat on eBay, and it’s beautiful apart from the buttons which are a bit cheap looking. Could anybody suggest some to update it a bit?

Have you got a pic of the coat?

I switched out pewter buttons on a short double breasted black coat for gold ones, gave it a more military look.

Here. It’s about knee length, the buttons look gold in the pic but they’re actually silver.

where do you buy buttons from? (sorry daft question)

MightyMunki · 27/11/2017 20:05

I bought mine from eBay, but you can get them in a haberdashery. Dunelm have a good selection if you’re near one of their stores.

We have a proper haberdashers in the next village. I’m always changing buttons or adding ribbon.

John Lewis and Hobbycraft sell haberdashery, but if you’re anywhere near York, Harrogate or Ilkley, Duttons for Buttons is the place to go.

Etsy is great for unusual buttons. Jenners in Edinburgh was always a stop for me for nice buttons.

John Lewis.

I change the buttons on most things.
